I’ll be visiting Santorini in early September, and I’ve heard a lot about Red Beach. It sounds beautiful and like it might be a bit tucked out of the way, which I’m hoping means it’ll be more peaceful compared to other beaches on the island.

Has anyone been there around this time of year? I’d love to know what to expect! Is it typically crowded in September, or does it have a quieter vibe? Also, I’ve read that the access path can be a bit tricky—are there any tips for getting there safely, or things I should bring with me? Thanks!

Red Beach is absolutely stunning, and its unique red cliffs make it a must-see while in Santorini! Visiting in early September is a great time—the crowds typically start to thin out after the peak summer season, so it’s likely to be quieter compared to July or August. That said, it’s still a popular spot, so I’d recommend visiting earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon to fully enjoy the peaceful vibe.

The access path to the beach can be a bit rocky and uneven, so sturdy shoes are a must (flip-flops won’t cut it!). Bring water, sunscreen, and maybe a small umbrella for shade, as there’s not much natural cover. Snorkeling gear is also a great idea since the underwater scenery is just as impressive as the view above

Worst season ever’: How things got ugly on Greece’s ‘Instagram island’

Below is an extract from the article!(Not my opinion which I will write at the end of season)
"When evening comes, however, the crowds melt away, and some complain the island goes from Times Square to ghost town.
'The island is empty’
The truth is that the island is empty. Right now is like never before, it’s the worst season ever
The problem is that the social media are showing something completely different from what is the reality,” he says.
However, when the crowds are gone, “the hotels right now are more or less under 30% of a normal season,” he claims, and says that other businesses on the island are taking a similar hit".

Saving Money in Santorini?

I'm planning a trip to Santorini but am a bit concerned about the costs. I've heard that it can be quite an expensive destination, especially with all the luxury hotels and high-end restaurants. However, I'm determined to experience the beauty of Santorini without breaking the bank.

Can anyone share tips or advice on how to do Santorini on a budget? I'm looking for affordable accommodation options—maybe hostels, budget hotels, or even good Airbnbs. Also, what are some budget-friendly places to eat where I can still enjoy authentic Greek cuisine?

Are there free or low-cost activities and sights that you would recommend? I'm particularly interested in enjoying the famous sunsets, exploring the villages, and maybe visiting a few beaches or hiking trails.

Any advice on saving money on transportation around the island would also be greatly appreciated.

Best Foods to Eat in Santorini?

I’m heading to Santorini soon and I’m excited to explore the island’s food scene. I’ve heard so much about the local cuisine and I want to make sure I don’t miss out on any must-try dishes. Can anyone recommend the best foods to eat while I’m there?

I’m particularly interested in trying authentic, traditional dishes that are unique to Santorini. I’ve heard about things like tomatokeftedes and fava, but what else should be on my list? Are there any local specialties or desserts that I absolutely need to try? Also, if you have any favorite restaurants or tavernas on the island where I can find these dishes, I’d love to hear about them! I’m looking for both well-known spots and hidden gems.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations. Some things I heard: the white eggplants are delicious, I should eat tomatokeftedes, and the fava bean puree is also delicious.
