I wish I knew Greek better so that I understood more of what's going on in these excellent plays
Agreed but I can survive watching a play in Greece if I do research ahead of time and look up the plot, etc. My Greek is good enough to keep up, as long as I know in advance the plot of the play.

Arbutus berries are Kefalonias Christmas time fruit that can be used for anything!

You will find these strawberry like berries all over the island during Christmas time! They can be used to make jams and a variety of fruit and even eaten plain as a snack! Some people like to make a sweet liquor with it or mix it in to popular Greek liquors like ouzo. Many locals will decorate their house with branches of the berries, I guess you could say its a Kefalonia version of wreaths and mistletoe. I believe in Greek its called koúmara but I'm not too sure, if there are any Greek speakers on this forum please help me out!

Is Kefalonia expensive in comparison to other Greek islands?

What are the prices like of hotels, food, and experiences? Is it affordable?

I visited Gentilini winery in Kefalonia and it was amazing!

Gentilini is a really small family winery on the island that has a great selection of wines. I went on the tour and was able to see where all of the wines were made. Tours start in Easter and end in October, highly recommend to anyone visiting Kefalonia during those months.

Municipality of Kefalonia

Hi there!
I hope everyone is healthy and safe! I do ancestry research, my grandfather was born on Kefalonia. I am looking for contact information for the municipality of Kefalonia to locate records. Does anyone have contact info?

Best Regards,

Sandy

Kefalonia has a brand new and sustainable wind farm!

I am so happy the Greece is becoming more sustainable because we deserve it! There is so much great innovation that is coming out of Greece like this new wind farm in Kefalonia! It reminds me of the classic wind mills that I have seen in Mykonos and all over Greece. It is great that Greece is taking advantage of its natural resources like solar power and wind power and I am curious to see how this expands into tourism options like eco-tourism that I see becoming popular in other countries.
