Hi everyone! I’m planning a trip to Rhodes soon and while I’m excited for the beaches and historical sites, I’d also love to connect with the natural side of the island. I know Rhodes is more than just medieval walls and crystal-clear water—so I’m wondering:

What are your favorite ways to enjoy nature in Rhodes?

Are there any scenic hikes, quiet walking trails, or nature reserves you’d recommend? I’ve heard of places like the Valley of the Butterflies and Seven Springs, but I’m open to hidden gems too—lush areas, mountain drives, peaceful beaches off the beaten path, or even botanical gardens or scenic outlooks.

I’m not necessarily looking for adrenaline adventures—just ways to unwind and take in the island’s natural beauty.

You're absolutely right—Rhodes has a peaceful, natural side that often gets overlooked! If you’re drawn to quiet nature, the Valley of the Butterflies is lovely in the early morning before the crowds. Seven Springs is also great—especially if you enjoy shady walks and a cool escape from the sun.

For something less touristy, check out Profitis Ilias mountain. There’s a scenic drive up with panoramic views, and the area around the Elafos Hotel has quiet trails and pine forests that feel worlds away from the beach scene.

Another gem is the Rodini Park just outside Rhodes Town—it’s small but serene, with peacocks and shaded paths. For beaches, Tsambika and Agathi are beautiful but go early or later in the day for more tranquility. And if you can, take a short trip to the south of the island—places like Plimiri Beach feel truly untouched.

Enjoy your trip—Rhodes is full of gentle beauty!

sadly Agathi beach has changed . now sun loungers & food are expensive . Plus loud music from taverna is not pleasant . On Plimiri bech now is a large all inclusive hotel so not untouched with sun loungers on the beach etc

Aw that's too bad. I had high hopes for it. I will look into some other beaches.

have a look on Google maps for Limni beach near Apollikia. Its hard to find because the sign has gone .all that remains is the wooden structure that held it up .no loungers on the beach. changing hut shower & toilets in the car park. good road all the way .Or look for Fourni beach near Monolithos .loungers on the beach a cantina & toilets. good road all the way but twisting & steep.Near there is Alyki beach .A narrow dirt road only suitable for 4 wheel drive vehicle , NOT a rental car . OR walkable . Nothing on the beach

Local wines to try in Rhodes?

I’m starting to gather ideas for a possible late fall trip to Rhodes and one thing I’d really love to explore is the local wine. I’m Greek and have been to Greece many times, but never to Rhodes, so I’m not familiar with the island’s wine scene at all.

I’ve read that Rhodes has a long tradition of winemaking and that certain villages, like Embonas, are known for their vineyards. Are there particular grape varieties or labels I should look for? Any local favorites that don’t make it to the mainland but are worth seeking out while I’m there?

I’d also love to know if there are wineries that offer tastings or tours in the fall, and whether that’s a good season for visiting vineyards in Rhodes.

If you’ve had wine in Rhodes that made an impression, I’d be grateful for your recommendations!

Best beaches on Rhodes for snorkeling?

I'm considering a family trip to Rhodes and am curious about the best beaches for snorkeling. I've heard that Anthony Quinn Bay is a top spot, known for its clear waters and marine life. Kallithea Springs also comes up frequently, praised for its underwater scenery. For families, Tsambika Beach is mentioned as having gentle slopes into the sea, making it suitable for children. Agathi Beach is noted for its calm, shallow waters and sandy bottom, ideal for kids and beginners. Glystra Beach is another family-friendly option, with clear waters and a small rock island that's great for snorkeling.

Has anyone snorkeled at these beaches or have other recommendations? I'm looking for spots that are both exciting for snorkeling and safe for children. Any tips on equipment rental or guided tours would also be appreciated!
