What are some Value For Money restaurants to eat in Athens?

I'm curious where can i eat in Athens without breaking the bank! All touristic spots seem expensive! Do you know any VFM restaurants!
 
I usually go to places in Psiri or Petralona—small, local tavernas with great food and low prices. Portions are big, and you often get raki or dessert for free.
 
One night I ended up in a little place packed with locals, and the food was simple but amazing. It kind of felt like the same vibe you get when searching bar near me on a trip and finding a cozy spot that isn’t trying too hard, just serving good stuff at fair prices.

Is renting a car necessary in Athens?

I’m planning to spend a few days in Athens this summer before heading off to the islands, and I’m trying to decide whether renting a car is actually necessary while I’m there.

Part of me likes the flexibility of having a car, especially if I want to explore beyond the main historic center. On the other hand, I’ve heard traffic can be intense, parking is limited, and public transportation is fairly easy to use for the major sites.

My plan is to see the Acropolis, wander neighborhoods like Plaka and Koukaki, enjoy some good food, and maybe do one day trip if time allows. After that, I’ll be taking a ferry.

For those who’ve spent a few days in Athens, did you rent a car or rely on walking, taxis, and public transport? Was having a car helpful, or more of a hassle than it was worth? I’d appreciate honest advice.

Best Athens Restaurants with Acropolis Views?

I’ve been to Athens many times over the years, but one thing I never get tired of is a great meal paired with an Acropolis view. I’ve already been to a few of the classic spots, but for my next trip I’d love to branch out and try something new, maybe somewhere a little unexpected, or a place locals actually enjoy as much as visitors.

I’m open to anything: modern Greek, traditional tavernas, rooftop bars with small plates, or even hotels with great terraces that allow non-guests. What are your favorite restaurants in Athens with Acropolis views?

What to Do on Cruise Stop in Athens (Piraeus)?

I’ve got a cruise stop coming up in Piraeus with about five hours, and I’m trying to figure out the best way to spend it.

I’ve been to Athens quite a few times and have already done most of the major sights, so I’m not looking to rush back to the Acropolis of Athens or museums again.

I’m more interested in something different this time, maybe a great local area to wander, a good food spot, or even something closer to the port that still feels worth it.

Is it better to stay around Piraeus and explore there, or head into a specific neighborhood in Athens for a quick, focused experience?

Is it worth spending time in Athens in August?

I’m starting to plan a trip to Greece, but the only month I’m really able to travel this year is August. I know that’s peak season for a lot of the islands, but I’ve heard mixed things about Athens in August.

Some people have told me the city can feel pretty quiet because many Athenians leave for their villages or the islands during that time. Others say it’s still lively because of tourism. I’m trying to figure out whether it’s worth spending a few days there before heading to another part of Greece for a Panagia festival we want to attend.

Athens is such an important city historically and culturally that I don’t want to skip it if it’s still enjoyable. On the other hand, if a lot of places are closed or the city feels half-empty, maybe it makes more sense to focus our time elsewhere?

Any must-try dessert spots in Athens?

I might be heading to Athens this summer, and I’ve already started making a mental list of all the food I want to try—but I feel like desserts deserve their own plan.
