Personally, I have to say baklava or kaïmaki. For those of you that haven’t tried kaïmaki, I highly recommend it. It’s a traditional Greek ice cream made from masticha. You can find it at most Greek grocery stores and ice cream stores. What is your favorite Greek ice cream flavor?

I had kaïmaki once and it was delicious! That might be my favorite since it's so interesting.

I find that there aren't many of these in Greece, I've seen many pagotinia with vanilla and chocolate.

Agreed, I see lemon only sometimes, and when I do it's a real treat! By far the most common flavors I see are vanilla and chocolate. I recall there was a lot of gelato in Greece, too, similar flavors as in Italy.

Yes, although I prefer Italian gelato and ice cream over everything! They can't be beat!

My Favorite Greek Street Food for Summer

One of the things I love about Greece is all the street food. I have my favorites, what are yours? Here are mine:

1. Gyros
2. Loukoumades
3. Kouloura
4. Bougatsa
5. Chestnuts

I am not always in Greece for chestnut season, but when I am, it's a real treat! Which street foods do you love?

Greek dessert recommendations

Greece has some of the best desserts! You can find anything from French, Italian and Greek pastries at most bakeries and pastry shops. If you’re traveling there, I suggest you try a selection of some of the most popular and loved sweets. In my personal opinion, the best desserts you can get are profiterol, mille-feuille, baklava, pagotinia (little ice creams), and ekmek kadaifi. I personally like desserts with cream that are a little less sweet. You can find many desserts that have syrup (siropiasta) but they all have the same feel to baklava, so I suggest trying that first.

What are your favorite Greek dishes?

Please drop some suggestions below! I’ve been wanting to try out some new dishes. I’m noticing that many taverns I’ve been visiting are serving the same things and I’d like to try something more unique. I love the classics (meze, souvlaki, moussaka etc.) but it’s time for some exploring!!

Strapatsada is Greeces tasty egg dish

This dish is fantastic! I saw it on the menu for the first time and had to try it. It’s super simple, just eggs and tomato scrambled with feta cheese on top. The name of the dish sounds italian but I’m not sure if it’s origins. I love it and will definitely be making it at home.

How to make Cretan meat cake!

This is super similar to a meat pie or chicken pie. It's a super traditional Cretan recipe that has now spread to different parts of Greece. If you want to try something new or impress your friends you should try it out. I like to get fresh herbs to mix in as well :) Let me know if you like this recipe
