I'm planning my trip to Santorini and I really want to get a taste of authentic Santorini food. What are your favorites and what is it like?

The food in Greece is amazing and Santorini it is equally as good!

My advice would be to stay away from the super trendy, touristy places if you are looking for authentic and local flavors of Santorini.

Other than than the amazing wine in Santorini, Katsouni cucumbers found in Santorini are truly amazing:

You may be too stunned by the beauty to think of food!

Santorini is famous for their " Τοματοκεφτεδες " Tomatokeftethes . Tomato balls , just like meat balls , but with tomatos .

The memorable foods I ate in Santorini involved tomatoes! The soil conditions are unique because of the volcanic activity, and they are extra sweet. They have these tomato croquettes that are delicious "domatakeftedes" :

Is Santorini actually overrated?

I keep hearing this statement over and over....and I'm kind of confused. I loved Santorini when I went, as you can see in my profile picture. I loved riding the donkeys with my kids and exploring the island. I get that its crowded and a little overpriced but I think it was an unforgettable experience. I wouldn't have taken it back and gone to another island! What are your thoughts for those that have been?

Did you know that Santorini has an industrial tomato museum?

Santorini had a huge production of tomatoes, which was so big that they even have an industrial tomato museum that is open to the public. Santorini no longer exports as much tomato paste as it used to, I'm assuming because it became one of the most popular tourist hot spots in the entire world. The museum is located in the former D. Nomikos Tomato Factory, and I really suggest that you check it out!! Safe travels :)

The best place to go scuba diving in Santorini

Santorini is one of the best places to go scuba diving because the island was created from a volcano many years ago which makes the sea life very different from other areas of Greece. There are very unique Coral reef Sandrock formations that have come from the volcano, and as always, the sea is teeming with wildlife. I highly recommend visiting Caldera Lagoon and arranging that you go scuba diving there. There are a few local schools that you should call ahead of time to schedule your slot. Best of luck!

Stunning Santorini wedding at Le Ciel Santorini

Santorini has become one of the most popular destinations for weddings for so many years now. This wedding is absolutely stunning and the view is what makes it! Le Ciel Santorini is one of the most luxurious hotels on the island, and is located in the northern part (not too far from Oia). It is a common destination for weddings and I highly recommend it for anyone who is interested in getting married in Greece.

Here is a glimpse of Megalochori village in Santorini

Megalochori is one of Santorini's most beautiful villages! You can't visit the island without walking around and seeing the sights. When visiting, be careful of the residents who are staying there. Santorini has had a problem with people walking on the buildings and making too much noise. Yes it is a very touristy place but there are many residents that still live there. Enjoy!
