I love these videos so much because I get great insight into what locals actually like about different cities. In my opinion, there's so much to like about Thessaloniki. I really love how the city has so much culture, and you can see how the influence of different empires has impacted the cities architecture. Would you agree with some of what I said in the video? Or do you have a different perspective? Let me know!

There is so much to do in Thessaloniki! Great video - the Easy Greek series has some great ones, I use them to help boost my Greek language skills.

Will only have a few hours in Thessaloniki...

I am going to Thessaloniki in the late summer (I forget the dates). It's a stop on a Greek cruise. I have been to Greece a lot before but have never done a cruse. I have also never been to Thessaloniki. Any suggestions as to what I can do with my time while I am here? I will be doing a tour of another stop the day prior, so for Thessaloniki I am thinking I just want to explore.

First Time in Thessaloniki - What to Do?

I have been to Athens plenty of times but never Thessaloniki. I am trying to nail down an itinerary for the next time I am in Greece. I have never been to Thessaloniki! What is a good list of things to see and do while I am here? I started my research:

** Ladadika District - Because it seems kinda neat....
** Archaeological Museum - I love this kind of thing!
** White Tower - seems like an iconic landmark?

First Time to Thessaloniki

Whenever I go to Greece, it is always to Athens. This time, I was thinking of heading to Thessaloniki. It would be my first time!

Does anyone have an advice for those visiting the city for the first time? I don't quite know where to start. Is there a particular neighborhood I should stay in, for starters? I would like to get an AirBnB or something like that.

The Arch of Galerius is one of Thessalonikis most famous landmark

Thessaloniki has two very famous landmarks: the white tower and the the arch of galerius. The history behind this arch is actually very fascinating, it was built in 305 C.E. to signify Galerius’ win from the Persian empire. The arch is now a very popular tourist site, and there is an open space around it where people walk around and enjoy the view of the water. You will definitely stumble upon it on your next trip to Thessaloniki.

What it is like living in Thessaloniki for a month

I love seeing experiences like this, so I thought it would be good to share. This couple has been living in Thessaloniki for one month, so they have a pretty good perspective on what it would be like for foreigners. Ever since covid, there have been more and more digital nomads and people working abroad for months at a time. If you're interested in the experience, I suggest you ask some questions on this forum as well to get advice from people who go to Greece often.

Share and discuss your Thessaloniki photos, questions and experiences!
