I’ve been reading about Rhodes lately, and the more I learn, the more it seems like a place that offers a little bit of everything. The island has such an interesting mix of history, beaches, beautiful villages, and great food. The Old Town alone looks incredible, with its medieval streets, stone buildings, and all that history around every corner.

At the same time, people talk a lot about the beaches, the clear water, and places like Lindos with its white houses and views of the acropolis. It seems like Rhodes manages to balance culture, scenery, and relaxation really well.

For those of you who have visited, what stands out the most when you think back on your trip? Was it a specific place, like a beach or village, or more the overall atmosphere of the island?

I’d love to hear what made Rhodes special for you and what left the biggest impression.

Rhodes is special to me because it is where I now live .With my wife , left the uk in 2009 to retire. we live in the village of afantou about 30 minute drive from rhodes town .population of about 7,000.often go to village square to have cakes & coffee & people watch . been to old town many times but just once to lindos . its too crowded & very expensive. most of the tourist tat is imported from china.including lace. sadly the beaches are now expensive. most sun beds are cabana type & close together. made of wood & very heavy.so cannot easily be moved to follow the movement of the sun. our favourite beach WAS Agathi. not now due to large inflatable play area in sea, expensive food at taverna & very loud music from it.now we just use the beach at afantou. its 5 kilometers long & even in the hight of summer are quiet places .

This is such great information, thank you so much! It's hard to get the insider knowledge when searching online for information. I am not really into crowded and expensive but someone in your party is insisting on at least visiting Lindos for a short time because of the history there. I can maybe try to plan it so that we are not there when the crowds are too bad.

What Happened to the Colossus of Rhodes?

I’ve been reading about Colossus of Rhodes and realized I don’t actually know what happened to it. I know it was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and that it stood somewhere near the harbor in Rhodes, but beyond that, the details are a bit fuzzy for me.

Did it collapse because of an earthquake? And if so, what happened to the remains afterward? I’ve heard different versions—some say it stayed in pieces for a long time, others say it was eventually removed or sold off.

Also, is there any real evidence of exactly where it stood, or is that still debated? Curious to hear what people know or have learned, especially if you’ve visited Rhodes and seen any related sites or history in person.

wild life on afantou beach

have been there today .Near sundalia cafe there are now lots ducks , moorhens & 1 grey heron

What are the best practices for storing research peptides?

Been messing around with a few research peptides for a side project, and now I’m low‑key stressing that I’m gonna ruin them just by not storing them right. I’ve read a bunch of mixed info online—some folks say one thing, others say the complete opposite—so now I’m second‑guessing everything. These things weren’t cheap, and I’d rather not turn them into useless dust because I screwed up. Anyone here been in the same boat and figured out what actually works? I’m hoping to keep them stable long enough to finish what I’m working on.
