I thought I'd ask a more of a provocative question on this forum. I'm absolutely in love with Greece, and I truly think that every single place in the country is beautiful. But of course, some things aren't for everyone. Which makes me ask the question, what place in Greece do you regret travelling to? I can't wait to see some of these answers and debate in the threads!!

Well, the one place I know I'd regret going to is Mykonos, and that said, I have no intention of ever visiting. A close second is Spetses. I wouldn't say I regret goin there, I just didn't enjoy it that much. It's expensive and not worth the money for what the island offers.

Most Greeks in Greece cringe when they think about Mykonos - it's not greek, it's outrageously expensive, it's filled with tourists, and the locals who still live there don't even have a public beach available to them. I can keep going but I won't.

I regret going to Mykonos as well. To be fair, was only there for a day and didn’t go beyond walking distance of the harbour. It was hot, crowded and expensive.

What a shame, I've heard bad reviews as well. Did you go on a cruise?

Yes it was a day trip, where we came over on the Alexander from Naxos. Boat ride was very nice and also stopped at Delos.
Naxos was perfect. Stayed there ten days.

Stayed in Mykonos to go to Delos. That is a good reason 😉

Don’t regret going to any island. Won’ t go to Iraklia again. Too small, but the people were friendly, the beach was good so no regret.

No regrets at all - I've loved visiting everywhere I have been. Some, though, are definite repeats - like Crete - whereas some I don't necessarily feel the need to return to, simply because there is so much to see.

Where to travel in Greece if you love wine!

If you love wine, Greece is some of the best places to go to! There are great wines all over Greece, but certain areas are revered for their high quality grapes and crisp wines. Some of my personal favorites are Santorini wines. For Santorini, I specifically recommend Assyrtiko which is the white wine that is produced most from Santorini. The second best place to go to Greece for wine is Thrace which is best if you like red wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon which is also popular in regions from across the world. I know Crete is also popular, but I have never been so I cannot comment on their wines!

Check out my recommended travel itinerary for 2 weeks in Greece!

I have decided to share an itinerary that I send to all of my friends who want to go to Greece. I have travelled to quite a few places around the country, and feel like I have a good idea of where everyone should visit on their first trip. Of course, I always recommend a two week minimum one visiting Greece. There's just so many things to do, especially if you like the beaches and sightseeing. Let me know what you think!

1. Land in Athens and stay for 4 days (Acropolis, Monastiraki, Thisseio, Glyfada, Kolonaki, and Lykabitos are a must)
2. Spend 3 days in Paros enjoying the beaches and nightlife (Paros has the best of Santorini and Mykonos without being crowded or expensive)
3. Spend 2 days in another island of your choice that is not in the Cyclades (honorable mentions include Corfu, Lefkada, Skiathos)
4. Spend the remaining 5 days driving through Crete and visiting Chania and Rethymno (Elafonisi Beach is a must)

What are some Greek work from home tips?

I’ve been considering being a traveling nomad ever since my company switched to being fully remote. I would love to do this in Greece, but I am a bit skeptical since I have never visited for more than two weeks. Has anyone from abroad started living in Greece during the pandemic? Or do any Greeks have advice on what transitioning my life and work would be like? I live in Australia at the moment but have little to tie me down here. Thank you everyone

Spetses is amazing for shopping!

I haven't heard of many people talk about Spetses on this forum… Which is super strange because it's one of my favourite islands! It's very easy to get to from Athens, and the shopping is just amazing. There are very unique boutiques, with handmade items from Greece, Italy, and Turkey. They are a little bit pricey, which is why I recommend that you try and barter if you can. Here are some of my favorite stores...

- Sea+Sun Spetses
- The Yachting Club Boutique
- Pasiphaë
