My friend really wants to baptize her son somewhere in Greece with beautiful nature and scenery. Any recommendations on where to go? Islands vs mainland? What is better in your experience, I've never been to any baptisms in Greece
A few years ago I went to a Greek Orthodox baptism outside of Athens (I don't remember the exact place). Are you planing a christening for your family? Are you from Greece, if so which region? Please give us a bit more information about the details and we are happy to give you some recommendations. Thanks!!
I have heard of people doing this but haven't had personal experience. There are a lot of churches in Greece but not all of them have active parishes with a designated priest because I believe there is a clergy shortage. So, this would be impossible to plan without knowing more details.
I haven't heard of many people talk about Spetses on this forum… Which is super strange because it's one of my favourite islands! It's very easy to get to from Athens, and the shopping is just amazing. There are very unique boutiques, with handmade items from Greece, Italy, and Turkey. They are a little bit pricey, which is why I recommend that you try and barter if you can. Here are some of my favorite stores...
- Sea+Sun Spetses
- The Yachting Club Boutique
I would love to know what everyone thinks of these Greek travel tips, and if they are actually true and helpful. I feel like many people have so many biases about different countries, and they can have a completely different perspective from a local or the actual truth. Please let me know what your opinions are in the comments!
I'm not even surprised that Milos is one of the most up and coming Greek islands this summer. So many of my friends are planning on visiting, and I have some cousins who went last year and have nothing but rave reviews. The island is pretty small, and known for its amazing beaches. As you can see in this video, it almost looks like you're on mars. The crowd is a little bit older, and the island is more slow paced and quiet. So I wouldn't recommend it fora younger group looking to go out a lot. Personally, it sounds like a great time to me!
If you love wine, Greece is some of the best places to go to! There are great wines all over Greece, but certain areas are revered for their high quality grapes and crisp wines. Some of my personal favorites are Santorini wines. For Santorini, I specifically recommend Assyrtiko which is the white wine that is produced most from Santorini. The second best place to go to Greece for wine is Thrace which is best if you like red wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon which is also popular in regions from across the world. I know Crete is also popular, but I have never been so I cannot comment on their wines!
