I have been working on keeping an indoor oregano plant alive because I love the flavor of the fresh herb. Other herbs I like to cook with include parsley, chives, mint, and dill. Do these all grow well indoors?

I have a nice, large windowsill near my kitchen and I have room for about 3 or 4 more herbs. I am trying to figure out which plants to grow. The window gets moderate sun and has a heating vent near it.

I would definitely do oregano, chives, parsley, and mint. I am not sure about dill - I have personally had trouble growing it indoors. Keep some seed packets handy because as you're trying to get them to grow, you may need to add more seeds. None of these need a lot of water, but you should check the plants every few days and water as needed. Rotate them a quarter turn once a week so they can get even sunlight.
 

Greek clay pot cooking tips

I have been reading about some traditional recipes that involve clay pots. I noticed that this is fairly common throughout Greece, but it isn't common necessarily with the Greek diaspora in places like United States, Canada, and Australia. What happened when the people moved to those places? Did they adapt the recipes or keeping using these methods and I just don't realize it? My family must have adapted because no one uses clay pots anymore.

I am trying to figure out how to get started with this cooking method while not in Greece. I am honestly not even sure where to start.

Traditional Foods of Corfu?

I am headed to Corfu soon in early July and I am so excited! I have never been. I want to sample traditional foods. In most of Greece, some dishes were similar no matter where you go, and then there are some regional specialties.

Are there any regional specialties I should look for in Corfu?

What are your favorite Greek recipes to cook?

I love cooking, and I learned at a very young age. I love being able to share my Greek heritage with people. I have some favorite recipes to share with my non-Greek friends:

- Spanakopita - I have had so many people ask me how to make it!
- Tiropita - I don't actually have a set recipe - I always make it differently, and for me, that is part of the charm. It always has at last feta, though!
- Village salad - It is my favorite salad, and I only make it in the summer when everything is fresh, so it's a real treat
- Souvlaki - this is a crowd pleaser and a great addition to any barbecue!

Greek sourdough starter?

I am sure I am not alone here, but I didn't always realize that Greeks do sometimes use sourdough starter to make bread.

I had a type of bread last time I was in Greece that was beyond phenomenal and I asked how they made it. They took me back in the kitchen t show me the starter.

Okay, so now I want to learn to bake bread like that. Does anyone have any tips?

Shopping for Greek Honey

What is the best Greek honey to buy? I have some friends who are going to Greece and I told them to get me some honey while there, but I don't know how to tell them what to buy for me. I like to cook with it and spread it on bread and wasa crackers. I love it with cheese, as well. Like, the combination of honey drizzled on feta cheese ... it's outstanding.

When I don't have people getting some for me in Greece, I typically buy it online. I just never really put thought into it.
