Which island to visit?

If you only had time to visit one of these islands which would you choose? I am in negotiations with my family to pick only one of these... There's 8 of us traveling and we each have different opinions.

1. Mykonos
2. Santorini
3. Zakynthos
4. Crete
5. Naxos

I am personally leaning towards Zakynthos or Naxos because I have never been... Thanks in advance!
 
That’s a tough choice, but here’s my take! If your family is looking for iconic beauty and luxury, Santorini is hard to beat with its caldera views and stunning sunsets—it’s a bucket-list destination for many. Mykonos is perfect if your group enjoys nightlife, trendy beach clubs, and a chic vibe.

However, since you’re leaning towards Zakynthos or Naxos, I’d say go with Naxos! It’s a fantastic blend of history, culture, and beautiful beaches. Plus, it’s less crowded than Santorini or Mykonos, which might make for a more relaxing trip with a large group. The island also has activities for everyone—stunning beaches, quaint mountain villages, and ancient ruins.

Zakynthos is gorgeous, especially for nature lovers, with the famous Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach and sea caves. But it’s more limited in variety compared to Naxos.

Can someone help me explain to someone filoxenia?

There are certain concepts that are so deeply woven into who we are as Greeks that they almost defy translation, and filoxenia is one of them. It’s something we just know. I had a non-Greek friend ask me to explain it the other day, and I found myself pausing. How do you describe something that’s more of a feeling than a word?

Is it hospitality? Kindness? Generosity toward strangers? Yes, but it’s also more than that. It’s opening your home, your table, and your heart without expecting anything in return. It’s treating a guest like family, even if you’ve just met. It’s an instinct, a pride, a reflection of who we are.

So I’m curious, how would you explain filoxenia to someone who’s never experienced it?

Why do axolotls stop eating suddenly, and how can I figure out what’s causing the problem?

Hey there! So my little axolotl, Mango, has suddenly decided food is the enemy and I’m kinda freaking out. He used to chow down like a tiny vacuum cleaner, and now he just stares at his worms like they insulted his mother. I’ve checked the water temp, did a partial change, even tried switching up his food, but nada. I’m still pretty new to axolotl care, so I’m worried I’m missing something obvious. Has anyone dealt with this before? I just wanna make sure my lil dude’s okay. Any advice would seriously help me out!

Tips for Traveling to Lesvos?

I’m planning a trip to Lesvos and would love some advice from people who’ve been there. It feels like such an underrated island compared to the Cyclades or Crete, and that’s part of the reason I want to go. From what I’ve read, Lesvos has a mix of beautiful beaches, mountain villages, history, and amazing food traditions — especially ouzo and sardines!

I’m curious about a few things: what are the must-see towns or villages? Are there beaches that stand out as especially worth visiting? And since it’s a big island, is it best to rent a car to get around, or are buses enough?

I’d also love tips on local festivals, hidden spots, or tavernas you’ve enjoyed. Basically, what made your time in Lesvos memorable? Any recommendations would be really appreciated!

I’ve been a few times and absolutely fell in love with the mix of ancient history, island beauty, and everyday village life. Athens will always have my heart (especially wandering through Plaka at night), but I’m hoping to plan another trip soon and want to explore beyond the usual spots.

If you could go back to one place in Greece tomorrow, where would it be? Bonus points if you share your favorite meal or local experience there!

My favorites so far: Crete, Santorini, Meteora, Thessaloniki - I have so much more to see.

Paros & Tinos Vacation Tips Needed.

I am thinking of going to both these islands this Octomber. I am looking for some direction, I'd like area's that have both nice beeches, shops and tavernas. Can someone please give me tips on areas for these? For both Paros and Tinos. Cheers !:)
