Which month has the worse wind in Mykonos in the summer?

I might go to Mykonos next year, and the only thing giving me pause is the wind. I know the island is famous for the meltemi, but I keep reading completely different opinions about when it’s at its strongest. Some people say July is brutal, others say August is worse, and a few claim June can surprise you too.

For those of you who’ve been to Mykonos multiple times — or who go every summer — which month have you personally experienced as the windiest? I don’t mind a breeze, but I do want a trip where I can actually enjoy the beaches without getting sandblasted every five minutes.

Is there a month where the meltemi is consistently the strongest, or is it totally unpredictable year to year? Would love to hear your experiences and what you’d recommend!

Best Sunsets in Mykonos?

Much has been said about the sunsets in Santorini, and for the longest time I just assumed that was the place in Greece for sunset views. But recently, a friend came back from Mykonos and shared some absolutely gorgeous sunset photos, golden light over the water, soft colors, even the windmills in the background. I honestly had no idea Mykonos could look like that at sunset.

Now I’m curious if this is something people seek out there, or if it’s more of a hidden bonus compared to Santorini.

Do you have any favorite sunset spots on Mykonos? Are there specific beaches, viewpoints, or areas in town that really stand out? I’d love to hear recommendations before I start planning a trip.

Advice for Snorkeling in Mykonos?

I'm considering a trip to Mykonos this summer and was thinking about doing some snorkeling while I'm there. I've spent time swimming in Greece before, but I've never really explored what Mykonos offers specifically for snorkeling.

For those who have snorkeled around the island, are there particular beaches or areas that you would recommend? I'm less interested in organized excursions and more interested in places where I can simply bring my own gear and explore from shore.

How is the visibility in the water during the summer months? Are there any spots known for interesting marine life, underwater rock formations, or especially clear water?

Best viewpoints in Mykonos?

I’m in the early stages of planning a possible trip to Mykonos and have started researching the best viewpoints on the island. I know about the classic sunset spot near the windmills and Little Venice, but I’m wondering what other viewpoints are worth seeking out, especially ones that aren’t completely packed with crowds.

Are there any higher lookouts, coastal cliffs, quiet hills, or hidden spots where you can really take in the sea and the whitewashed buildings from above? I’d love both sunrise and sunset recommendations, whether they’re easy to reach or require a bit of walking or driving.

Staying in a villa rental on Mykonos?

We’re considering staying in a villa on Mykonos because our group is fairly large, and it seems like it might be more practical (and fun) than booking multiple hotel rooms. I’ve started looking online, but honestly the number of options is overwhelming, and I’m not sure what the best approach is.

For those who have done this before, how did you find your rental? Did you go through a villa agency, booking platforms, or local contacts? I’ve read that location makes a big difference depending on whether you want nightlife, beaches, or something quieter, so I’m also trying to figure out what areas make the most sense. One Week in Mykonos?

I'm thinking about spending a full week in Mykonos on a future trip, and I'd love some itinerary ideas. I've visited the island before, but only for short periods, mostly during cruise stops, so I know I've only scratched the surface.

With a full week, I'd like to slow down and experience more than just the well-known sights. I'd still want to wander through Mykonos Town, enjoy the beaches, and visit Delos, but I'm sure there are plenty of places and experiences I've missed over the years.
