I love to make fig jam and store it in the pantry for a few months. Jams are easy to bring across the border and through airport security, especially if you can seal it yourself. I always love picking fresh figs, but if I'm unable to come across a tree I get some fresh figs from a local grocer in Greece. The fig jam is super versatile and can be used in desserts like pasta flora or eat with toast in the morning. This video shows a great tutorial on how to make it, just make sure that you have high quality thermometer and lots of time on your hands!
