Planning a trip to kefalonia next year. I want to see the turtles - I was thinking of going at the end of June. Does this make sense to see the turtles?

In addition I want to see the following - did I miss anything?

- Melissani Cave
- Skala Beach (and other beaches)
- Castle of Agios Georgios

Anything else I should prioritize?

I think June is the perfect time to go. The weather is great, and I believe the turtles are doing there thing ... the turtles are protected, though, so I am not sure you will get to see much of it.

Your trip to Kefalonia sounds amazing! Visiting at the end of June should be perfect for seeing the turtles, as that's when they typically nest. As for your other plans, you've got some great attractions on your list! Melissani Cave is breathtaking, and Skala Beach offers some stunning coastal views. Don't forget to explore other beaches too, like Myrtos Beach for its turquoise waters. And the Castle of Agios Georgios is definitely worth a visit for some history and panoramic views.

If you're into amusement parks, you might want to check out some of the best amusement parks in the us. They offer a different kind of excitement, but hey, who doesn't love a good roller coaster ride?

Always wanted to see the turtles in Kefalonia...

I have a bucket list of going to Kefalonia while the turtles are on the beaches. I love turtles and this seems like a really beautiful thing.

I found this video that talks about them. It's not quite seeing them in person, but it was informative. Thought I'd share:

Finding out more about Assos village in Kefalonia

I am browsing through Air B nB listings for an upcoming visit to Greece and one in Assos village on Kefalonia caught my eye.

So I decided to see if I can find some information about the village to see if it is worth staying there.

From the picturesque scenery I’ve seen in photos to the glowing reviews I’ve read about its serene vibe, it seems like a must-visit spot. However, as someone who’s never been, I want to make sure I make the most out of my visit.

When is the best time to visit? What else is there to do in the village? Thanks in advance - any info you have is helpful.

Turtles question about Kefalonia

I'm planning an upcoming trip to the beautiful island of Kefalonia and I've heard quite a bit about the turtles that can be seen around the island. 🐢💦

Being a wildlife lover, I'd be thrilled to catch a glimpse of these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat! I have a few questions and would greatly appreciate insights from those who have visited or are knowledgeable about the local wildlife:
  1. What is the best time of year to observe turtles in Kefalonia?
  2. Are there specific locations where sightings are more common?
  3. Do local conservation efforts support safe viewing that won't disrupt the turtles' natural behavior?
Anything you have to share will be helpful!

What to do in Kefalonia with family?

I'm currently planning a family trip to the stunning island of Kefalonia and would love your insights. We're a large family and we're all going. My sister has two kids - one is 12 and the other is 9. We are also traveling with my parents.

From our initial research, we know that Kefalonia boasts beautiful beaches, fascinating caves, and picturesque villages. However, we want to ensure our trip is as memorable for our children as it is for us.

Could anyone recommend:
  • Family-friendly beaches with shallow waters and fun activities?
  • Cultural or historical sites that are engaging for children?
  • Places to see wildlife or participate in outdoor adventures suitable for young ones?
  • Any local eateries that are great for families, perhaps with play areas or menus catered to kids?
We're also open to any tips on getting around the island with children, as we're debating between renting a car or relying on public transport.

Thanks!
