Do many Greeks know how to speak English? My Greek is not too good lol

Hey everyone, I’ve done quite a bit of traveling in my day and I usually like to learn a few phrases in the language so that I can communicate with the locals. Do many Greeks know how to speak English? How much Greek should I learn before my trip?

They do speak English, especially in the touristed areas. They also love it when we try to speak a little Greek. I'd learn a few words, like hello, please, and thank you. You can also ask the Greeks who speak English for language advice. A simple "how do you say thank you in Greek?" People get a big kick out of teaching you a little bit of their language and their culture.

Yes! We totally know English (we're taught in school) but it doesn't hurt to try and learn some phrases
