Even though so many of my friends have gone to Mykonos and they say the best things, one of the most common things I’ve heard about the island is that it’s so damn expensive. Is there anyway to visit Mykonos and have fun without breaking the bank? I would love to hear some tips from those that are seasoned traveler‘s to the island. I would love to visit at least once before I turn 30! Thanks Worldwide Greeks community!

Here are some ways to save money when traveling to Mykonos:

- Use an airbnb instead of a hotel.
- Go to a supermarket and make one or 2 meals a day and eat out only 1 time per day.
- Keep the souvenir buying to a minimum.
- Eat at smaller taverna not the very touristy restaurants.

I hope this helps and you make it to Mykonos!

If you think it's expensive then obviously you can afford it. So the answer is don't go!. Stay home.

So let's see if I can get you there to enjoy... You are under 30 so the Paradise Camping will suit you!

Take a look, lots of young people... You don't have to party if you don't want to...It is big enough to do everything... Very cheap food all day, different buffet, Pizzas, Greek Food and lots and lots more...Next Door on the same beach is Tropicana, plenty going on there, great cheap abundance Food and drinks..
Next the bus services are cheap and very frequent from there so no need to worry about getting into town... about going to other beaches.... take the fishing boat transfers which connect with other beaches...If you get bored just walk over to PARANGA (another Camping there too!) beach behind Paradise Camping,if you get bored there just walk over to Platis Yalos, plenty to do there, water sports etc...I don't know if there's still anyone doing Beach BBQ excursions anymore....I will check for you....I am writing this impulsively so more later... Which months are you planning to go? Depending how you travel there are people selling rooms at the port...all friendly and will also provide transportation...

These are all some great tips! It's definitely possible to save money. Besides what is listed here, you can also save by going to a store and buying some of your own alcohol to enjoy while at your hotel or Air B n B, or even at the beach or something. Alcohol can get expensive. It also helps if you start making Greek friends while traveling, because they you can do a lot of things with them, and they know about all of the great local hangouts, which tend to be less expensive. It's all about knowing where to go!

Best Mykonos beaches for families?

I'm planning a family vacation to Mykonos and would love some recommendations on the best family-friendly beaches. With a couple of toddlers in tow, I'm looking for beaches that are not only beautiful but also safe for the little ones to play around and paddle in the water.

Additionally, amenities like clean restrooms, nearby places to grab a bite to eat, and shaded areas would be a huge plus. We want to avoid the party scenes and opt for more serene spots where we can build sandcastles and enjoy the waves without too much worry.

If anyone has experiences or suggestions they'd like to share, I'm all ears! What beaches in Mykonos have you found to be particularly good for families? Any tips on the best times to go, or advice on must-bring items?

Advice for an extended stay in Mykonos

I plan to be on Mykonos for about a month over the summer and I honestly feel like I am a bit late to the party securing a rental for that long. I am not seeing much on airbnb.

That could change as more properties become available... I don't know.

Am I missing something? Are there other networks that people use when going to Mykonos that I maybe haven't thought of? I don't want to move mid trip but I guess I could. Like do a week here and there. It could give me a chance to see different things on the island.

Shopping from local artisans while in Mykonos question

I'm planning a trip to Mykonos soon and one thing I'm really excited about is exploring the local artisan scene. I've heard that the island is home to many talented craftsmen and artists, and I'd love to bring back some unique and authentic souvenirs.

However, I'm not quite sure where to start or what to look for when shopping from local artisans. I'd really appreciate any tips or recommendations from those who have experience with this.

Do you have any favorite artisan shops or markets in Mykonos that you would recommend? What are some typical items or crafts that I should keep an eye out for? Any advice on how to distinguish authentic, locally made products from mass-produced tourist trinkets?

I'm also interested in learning about any cultural or historical significance behind certain artisanal crafts on the island. Understanding the stories behind the products would definitely enhance my shopping experience.

Question about Mykonos galleries

I'm planning a trip to the enchanting island of Mykonos very soon and, being an avid admirer of art, I'm eager to explore the local art scene. Mykonos, with its mesmerizing landscapes and vibrant culture, is said to host some exceptional galleries. I'm reaching out to this knowledgeable community for personal recommendations on the best galleries to visit during my stay.

I have a deep appreciation for both contemporary pieces and classical art, so any suggestions that cover a wide range of artistic expressions would be hugely appreciated. Additionally, if there are specific artists or exhibitions that you think are a must-see, I would love to hear about those as well.

Lastly, if there are any hidden gems or lesser-known galleries that you've stumbled upon and found to be utterly captivating, please do share! I'm all for discovering off-the-beaten-path spots that add a unique touch to the travel experience.

Going to Delos from Mykonos?

Delos looks fascinating and I will be in Mykonos this summer. Is it realistic to do this as a day trip from Mykonos?

Has anyone done this before? I'd love to hear your recommendations and tips! How long is the boat ride, and are there specific tour operators you recommend?

What are the must-see spots on Delos, and how much time should I allocate to explore the island thoroughly?

I recall it's possible to take a Ferry from Mykonos to Delos but I am not sure the details. I saw a sign for it last time I was there.
