This place used to be the richest village on the entire island on the entire island, but today there are only empty houses and churches left with no inhabitants. Super eery but great for a visit to see how people once lived. check it out!

When we last visited there was a taverna and a small gift shop/museum. It was such a beautiful village.

Wow...I can't imagine such a small village that it only has those who things. So you recommend visiting?

As the OP said, nothing remains but the remnants of houses, church, and maybe the school? It’s been many years since we’ve been there - but yes! If you are renting a car, exploration of the island’s villages is a must.

Yes, you will definitely need a car to get there

As much as I love spending the night and walking around beautiful Corfu Town, you would really be missing something if you didn’t explore the rest of the island - quite easy to do on day trips with a rental car. Otherwise you can take the buses to various beaches, but the car gives you more freedom. Try a local company (not the big names) so you csn negotiate a better rate.

Greek "ghost towns" are very eerie but cool to visit! Do we know what happened to all the people?

Three Days or So in Corfu?

I was thinking of visiting Corfu over summer of 2024 and I am not sure how many days to stay. I was thinking that three days is a good amount, and that will enable me to visit other places in Greece (and other people - I have friends and family to visit).

Anyway 3 or 4 days really is ideal. But now, what to do? I have been watching a lot of content - there is some great travel content on YouTube and people love to visit Greece. Anyway, here is a great video:

Spend the day at Corfu Old Town?

Can you spend an entire day just exploring Corfu Old Town? I'm planning my itinerary for a trip to the gorgeous island of Corfu, and from what I've seen, the Old Town looks like a mosaic of historical and cultural influences with Venetian, French, and British vibes.

Has anyone here spent a day (or more) solely in the old part of the city? How was your experience? Are there enough sights, cafes, shops, and hidden gems to keep one entertained for the full day? I'm looking to soak up as much of the local atmosphere as possible without rushing through.

I am curious what you guys think and any advice you may have. Thanks!

Top places to see on Corfu advice

I'm planning a trip to Corfu and would love to get some insights from this community. From the breathtaking beaches to the rich historical sites, I'm eager to explore what Corfu has to offer but would like to narrow down my list to ensure I see the top attractions.

Could anyone share their personal favorites or must-see spots in Corfu? I'm interested in both popular tourist destinations and any hidden gems you think shouldn't be missed. Additionally, if there are specific local dishes or restaurants that you believe are quintessential to the Corfu experience, I'd appreciate those recommendations as well.

Thank you in advance for your help!

List of traditional Corfu villages to visit?

I am researching the possibility of traveling to Corfu this year. What are some villages we must see? I have a list of six or so that I find intriguing - anything to add or subtract?
  1. Pelekas
  2. Liapades
  3. Lakones
  4. Agios Mattheos
  5. Agios Gordios
  6. Sokraki
What do you think? I am having a hard time visualizing things.

Video Tour of Corfu

When I am about to visit a destination, I like to watch video content.

It has been a while since I have been to Corfu. I kept trying to go, but it keeps falling through.

Ignore the several-minutes long plug for a product! That part I know was necessary because they were a sponsor.

Once you get through that the content is good!

Share and discuss your Corfu photos, questions and experiences!
