(Brockton, MA, United States) – The Greek festival at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Brockton, Massachusetts will take place from September 15, 2016 to September 18, 2016 on the grounds of the church. This festival is a chance for members of the Brockton area and of the Greek community to come together and celebrate the Greek culture together. Participants will have a chance to eat delicious Greek food, shop for Greek products at the marketplace, listen to Greek music, and dance traditional dances as well as watch dancing demonstrations. The festival will also have some activities to keep the kids amused.
However, for most people who come to the festival, the real highlight is the food. Festival volunteers have been busy planning and preparing the foods for the past few months and the festival draws people from all over the area who are eager to sample some of the traditional dishes. These offerings include baked lamb, souvlaki made from pork and chicken, pastitso, moussaka, spanakopita, dolmathes, and much more. There will also be traditional gyro sandwiches as well as handmade loukamades for dessert. Other desserts include other traditional favorites, such as baklava and koulourakia. People who want to sample the food can get their food to go, eat it at the festival, or both! Some of the food can be eaten in the festive atmosphere while dancing and listening to the music, and some of it can be eaten at home.
All proceeds made from the festival will be used to benefit the Annunciation Greek Church. Admission and parking are both free. There will also be a raffle as well as regular church tours. People who want to learn about the church and the Orthodox faith are encouraged to join the tour and ask any questions they may have. The tours will run several times each day.
