(Ocean City, Maryland, United States) – The Greek Festival in Ocean City, Maryland will take pace this weekend from July 29, 2016 to August 1, 2016. The festival is put on by the Saint George Orthodox Church in Ocean City, Maryland. However, the festival itself won’t be held on the church grounds, it is going on at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center on 40th Street & the Bay. This is the 27th year where the festival will be taking place at the convention center. This is a great event for members of the Ocean City community as well as the Greek community as a whole. The festival givers people a chance to celebrate all things Greek, whether they’re actually Greek or not! People can eat Greek food, listen to music, dance traditional folk dances, and shop at the marketplace for Greek items as well as jewelry.
For most festival goers, however, the real highlight is the food. People flock to this festival each year to enjoy the delicious Greek specialties that have been prepared by festival volunteers. People can eat foods such as gyros, souvlaki, spanakopita, baked Greek chicken, lamb shanks, keftedes, and much more. There will also be Greek desserts to eat, such as baklava and paximathia. Food can be eaten at the festival or taken to go. In addition to eating the food, people can also listen to the music and watch traditional Greek dancing demonstrations. There are also activities for the kids.
On all three days of the festival, the doors will be opening at 12 PM and closing at 9 PM. The event is completely free and there is also plenty of parking. Proceeds for the festival will benefit the Saint George Orthodox Church in Ocean City. This is a great family event and one that has something for people of all ages, especially those who love Greek food.
