(Santa Barbara, California, United States) – The 43rd Annual Santa Barbara Greek Festival will take place on Saturday, July 30, 2016 and Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 11 AM to 7 PM on both days. It will take place at the Oak Park picnic area in mission park. This festival is the ideal way for members of the entire community in and around Santa Barbara to experience the Greek culture. There will be Greek food, live Greek music, traditional folk dancing, and the chance to shop for Greek goods at the festival’s market. There is also a raffle and some activities for the kids.
Although there is plenty to do at this festival, the main highlight for many of the guests is to eat the delicious Greek food that festival volunteers have prepared. Menu items include Greek-style chicken, souvlaki, gyros, dolmades, Greek salad, and spanakopita. There will also be plenty of Greek desserts to finish your meal with, including baklava, kataifi, and koulourakia. There is also a full entertainment schedule, including a live Greek band called The Greeks! and also a Greek DJ. You can enjoy your meal at the picnic grounds but takeout options are also available for those who are unable to stay or who would prefer to eat at home.
The Oak Park picnic area is located at 300 West Alamar Avenue in Santa Barbara, California. Both parking and admission to the festival are free. Proceeds to the festival will benefit the Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church. There will also be a church service at the park at 9 AM on Sunday, July 31, 2o16. If you’re curious about Greek Orthodox Christianity or simply want to attend church in a beautiful setting, consider coming to the service. The festival will open on Sunday shortly after the service. A free shuttle service is also available for those who are unable to park near the picnic grounds.
