(Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) – Greek Day on Broadway is taking place this weekend for one day only on June 26, 2016 from 11 AM to 9 PM. This is the largest Greek festival that takes place in Vancouver but since it only takes place for one day, you will want to clear your calendar! This year, it promises to be even bigger and better than in years past. This festival aims to celebrate Greek culture and history and is something that the community members look forward to each year. This event is one of the last things going on in the area to celebrate Greek Heritage Month and visitors agree that it is a nice, festive conclusion. Greek Day on Broadway is hosted by the Hellenic Canadian Congress of British Columbia.
The festival will take place right in the street – city organizers will block those portions off from oncoming traffic. It will be located on Broadway Street over five blocks in between Macdonald Street and Blenheim Street. It will take up a full 1 kilometer to give festival goers plenty of space to enjoy the food, vendors, music, and other aspects of the Greek culture. Entertainment will be featured on the stage and there are food vendors and a sitting area so that you can enjoy your Greek food while sitting under the big tent.
The festival will have many events that don’t center around food. There will also be live entertainment and also plenty of activities for the kids at the Kid Zone, which is designed for ages 12 and under. The Kid Zone is also organized into an “Apollo Zone” and an “Athena Zone”, and each will feature a variety of activities with a Greek theme. There will also be Cook Culture, which is a reserved area for Greek cooking demonstrations that will be taught by local chefs. There will also be a street market where people can browse in the “Aphrodite Zone” and a “Zeus Zone” for goods that are related to Greece.
