(Sarnia, Ontario, Canada) – The Greek Festival in Sarnia, which is in Ontario, Canada, will take place from August 5, 2016 to August 7, 2016 at Parkway #8 between Front Street and Christina Street, across the street from the Imperial Theater. This is the tenth year of the festival and organizers have said that the festival gets better each year. As more people hear about and enjoy it, the crowd seems to get bigger. At this festival, you will be able to enjoy great music, delicious Greek food, Greek dancing demonstrations, and vendors so that you can shop for Greek goods. In other words, there is something there for the whole family!
For most people who will be attending, the real highlight of the festival is the food. Food offerings include souvlaki, gyro plate, gyro sandwiches on a pita bread, tiropites, keftethes, and more. There will also be plenty of Greek desserts, such as baklava and kourabiedes as well as traditional Greek coffee drinks. You can also drink the Greek spirit, Ouzo, as well as beer and wine. Festival guests can take their food to-go and enjoy it at home, eat it in the festive atmosphere of the festival, or both! You can eat at the festival, and then get some food to enjoy later at home.
The festival organizers have been busy getting things ready for the past few months. They’ve also partnered with several area establishments to make the experience even more fun, such as a local brewery and a local butcher called the Country Butcher, who made the Greek sausages that will be served at the festival. They are expecting a crowd of abut 2500 people. The festival organizers suggest making a donation of $2 at the door to benefit the Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. In fact, all proceeds of the festival will also benefit the church.
