(Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) – The Greek Festival in Ottawa, Canada is scheduled to take place from August 11, 2016 to August 21, 2016. This festival will be going on for twelve days, which means that there is plenty of time for people in the local community to stop by! In fact, this gives people a chance to easily go more than once.
There will be opportunities for guests to enjoy all aspects of the Greek culture and it is perfect for those who are part of the Greek community and also those who are interested in all things Greek. This is the perfect chance to enjoy things like Greek dancing, traditional Greek music, and delicious Greek food that has been prepared by festival volunteers. There are also other activities, such as an area for the kids and also a place to shop for some Greek goods.
For many people who flock to the 12-day festival, the real highlight is certainly the food! Greek cuisine is unique, and people who have come to Canada from Greece have brought this tradition with them from their country, where it is then handed down through the generations. The food served at the festival follows that tradition. Menu items include dolmades, tzatziki, Greek salad, souvlaki, gyros, and lamb. There will also be a Greek cafe with traditional coffee drinks, as well plenty of Greek desserts, such as baklava, bougatsa, and loukoumades.
The festival will be taking place on the grounds of the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, which is located at 1315 Prince of Wales Drive in Ottawa, Canada. They will also be offering church tours throughout the festival to give people a chance to see the interior and ask any questions they may have about the architecture, icons, or the Orthodox Christian faith as a whole. Admission to the festival is free and so is parking. All proceeds of the festival will benefit the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary.
