Finding a Private Tour Guide on Crete?

I'm reaching out to this community because I'm planning trip to Crete and I'm on the lookout for a personal tour guide. I believe that exploring a new place is infinitely more enriching when you have the insights and stories that only a local can provide.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a tour guide in Crete? I'm looking for someone knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about their homeland. It's important to me that the guide is not only familiar with the popular tourist spots but also those hidden gems that are off the beaten path.

If you've visited Crete and had a fantastic experience with a tour guide, I'd love to hear your stories. Additionally, if you're a local or know of any contacts in the area that could point me in the right direction, please feel free to share.

I've seen stuff online about how much fun people have on private tours, and I believe this to be the best option for my family.
 
One can easily tour Crete on their own, but to get a really fun and authentic experience with a local, I can recommend two tour companies in the Chania Prefecture: Wanderlust Tours Chania with Nicole - and - Crete Insiders with Nikos & Martina. You can check out their websites, but then I would encourage you to contact them directly for a more customized experience. Wanderlust is usually small group/van; Crete Insiders is private. Both companies are extremely reasonable for the experience that they offer.

I agree - I've been to Crete multiple times so at this point, I wouldn't need. But the first two trips or so, we hired people to take us around. This is a great recommendation, thank you!

I would very much love to visit Crete so that I can learn more and see where it all happened.

I found this video of a museum I would love to visit. You don't need to have the sound turned on, it's really about the images and all you'll hear is background noise. But, I still found it pretty interesting.

I'm planning a trip to Crete and have been captivated by what I've heard about Rethymno's old town. From its charming cobblestone streets to its rich history and beautiful architecture, it sounds like a place I wouldn't want to miss. What to do in Agios Nikolaos?

I'm planning a trip to Agios Nikolaos in Crete, and I'd love to hear from anyone who has experience traveling there. It looks charming - I am basically here with a group of friends who wanted to see the area. I have been to Crete but never to this particular place, so I just want to get a feel for what to do here.

Some thoughts about what I can do:

- I think there's an archeological museum here that might be worth seeing.
- Is it worth taking a little trip to Spinolonga?
- I know there are some great beaches and shopping!
