I'm not a historian but I'm super curious about what impact the Byzantine empire has had on Greece's culture and overall history.

Basically, after Constantine the great took power, and moved the capitol of the empire to Constantinople there was a huge Hellenic influence in the Byzantine empire. Previous to that, much of the empire had Italian or "Latin" influence on Greece.

While the Greeks were teaching mathematics, philosophy, science and the arts the majority of the world were barbarians. The empire that you reference (Rome) all of the above was copied from the Greeks. Constantine was an Italian that became Greek Orthodox. Because he reverted back to the truth while the West corrupted Gods word.

The Byzantine Empire has influenced a lot of things that we typically associate as "Greek". This includes the architecture of some of the buildings, especially some of the churches, the music, even some of the food. For example, nutmeg, lemons, basil, and even caviar entered Greek cuisine because of the Byzantine Empire's influence.

Cave Divers Capture Breathtaking Footage of Lake Vouliagmeni Tunnels.

Posting this takes me back to my years living in Ano Glyfada when I often wandered what and why was there a lake in Vouliagmeni!Underwander!
The season finale shows how there were once elephants living on the island of Crete, but, most importantly, it sees the team return to Lake Vouliagmeni, where they make yet another breakthrough.... Fascinating how our world and eachother are connected!👏🌍🌎🙏

How did the Marshall Plan affect Greece?

I've recently taken an interest in the post-WWII recovery efforts and came across the Marshall Plan, which was introduced by the United States to aid European countries in rebuilding their economies. Given that Greece was significantly affected during the war, I'm curious about the specific impact the Marshall Plan had on Greece.

From what I've gathered, Greece, like many other European countries, faced tremendous economic challenges post-WWII, including infrastructure damage, inflation, and high unemployment rates. The Marshall Plan, formally known as the European Recovery Program, promised substantial financial aid to help rebuild war-torn nations, but I'm curious about how this plan was implemented in Greece specifically and what long-term effects it had on its economy and society.

I am so curious as to how, specifically, this plan affected Greece?

Question about Greece during WWI

I am trying to learn more about Greek history. This is a family project! What I am learning about now is Greece's involvement in WWI. From what I've gathered, Greece had a rather complex and interesting stance during World War I, but I'm looking for more in-depth information.

Could anyone here provide insights or point me towards resources that detail:

  1. Greece's political climate leading up to its involvement in WWI.
  2. The significance of the National Schism and how it affected Greece's participation.
  3. Key battles or military campaigns that Greek forces were involved in.
Thanks so much!
