Following, as I’ve just booked to go to Crete in September and would love to have some more authentic experiences than my usual beach/pool -> restaurant -> sleepI would love to get a taste of the Cretan culture and see some traditional dancing next time that I'm in Crete. Does anyone have recommendations about where would be a good place to see live dancing? I've seen some tourist oriented places in Athens for dancing online that I am planning to visit as well. Thanks in advance!
Airbnb has its own section of the website titled "experiences" where locals show you authentic parts of the culture. Might be a good idea.
Yamas restaurant in Hersonissos Crete claims that they have Greek dancing, might be nice to call them before you go to see if the have it available
The only times I have ever seen Cretan dancing, unless it's by accident (I bumped into a group doing it in the main area of Chania, near the old mosque), was by having it arranged as part of a tour. They've all been excellent experiences. Some restaurants have it, as well. Again, seeing the music and dancing at restaurants has been unplanned. Music and dancing is a big part of the culture and I always seem to find it. My advice is to ask around when you get there.
