Are Mykonos' windmills still functioning? Or are they just there as beautiful relics of older times in Greece? Either way, they're absolutely amazing 😍

Many of the windmills on the island were built by Venetians! The island has very strong winds so the mills were used as a power source. Sad that we don't have more modern windmills to sustainable power Greece. There are only around 16 windmills left on the islands as they are super super old and many of them have deteriorated

As far as I know, these iconic windmills are a relic of the past. I didn't realize they were built by Venetians! I took a cool sunset photo on Mykonos once on a beach that had some of these windmills. They no longer work, but they present some great photo opportunities!

Going to Delos from Mykonos?

Delos looks fascinating and I will be in Mykonos this summer. Is it realistic to do this as a day trip from Mykonos?

Has anyone done this before? I'd love to hear your recommendations and tips! How long is the boat ride, and are there specific tour operators you recommend?

What are the must-see spots on Delos, and how much time should I allocate to explore the island thoroughly?

I recall it's possible to take a Ferry from Mykonos to Delos but I am not sure the details. I saw a sign for it last time I was there.

How do you find the "good" parties on Mykonos?

I went to only one of the beach clubs on Mykonos and it wasn't really my vibe. Yet, I constantly see people partying in Mykonos and it looks fun and they're having a blast. How do these people find those parties?

My questions:

  • Are many of these parties private events?
  • Are there clubs away from the beaches that are known for their nightlife and DJs?
  • Are there different DJs that go to Mykonos? Maybe I can find out about the parties by tracking the DJs?
Another possibility is maybe the party scene really isn't my thing. I appreciate all your thoughts!

Shopping from local artisans while in Mykonos question

I'm planning a trip to Mykonos soon and one thing I'm really excited about is exploring the local artisan scene. I've heard that the island is home to many talented craftsmen and artists, and I'd love to bring back some unique and authentic souvenirs.

However, I'm not quite sure where to start or what to look for when shopping from local artisans. I'd really appreciate any tips or recommendations from those who have experience with this.

Do you have any favorite artisan shops or markets in Mykonos that you would recommend? What are some typical items or crafts that I should keep an eye out for? Any advice on how to distinguish authentic, locally made products from mass-produced tourist trinkets?

I'm also interested in learning about any cultural or historical significance behind certain artisanal crafts on the island. Understanding the stories behind the products would definitely enhance my shopping experience.

Visiting Ano Mera in Mykonos?

'm currently planning a trip to Mykonos and have been hearing a lot about a village called Ano Mera. From the snippets I've read online, it seems like a place rich in history with some wonderful local dining options, but I haven't been able to gather much detailed information.

I'm particularly interested in understanding the best time to visit, must-see attractions, and any dining recommendations you all might have. Additionally, if there are any local customs or cultural aspects I should be aware of before visiting, that would be incredibly helpful!

If anyone has visited Ano Mera or has insights into making the most out of a trip there, I'd genuinely appreciate your advice and suggestions. Any tips on navigating the area, hidden gems, or just general do's and don'ts would also be greatly valued.

Beach Clubs in Mykonos?

I'm planning a trip to Mykonos soon and I'm on the lookout for some fantastic beach clubs to visit. I've heard that Mykonos is famous for its vibrant beach scene, and I want to make sure I experience the best it has to offer.

Can anyone recommend some great beach clubs in Mykonos? I'm particularly interested in places with:
  • Beautiful views: A club that's right on the beach with stunning ocean views.
  • Good vibes: Somewhere with a fun and lively atmosphere.
  • Quality food and drinks: A place that serves delicious food and refreshing cocktails.
  • Great music: Preferably with live DJs or good playlists to set the mood.
I'd love to hear your personal favorites and any tips you might have for making the most of the beach club experience in Mykonos. Thanks in advance!
