(Chester, England) – Dean Wilson, the owner of Olive Tree Brasserie in Preston and Lytham St. Annes, is looking to expand his reach to Northern England, in Chester. Wilson’s restaurants all serve up his unique brand of modern Greek cuisine to the English population. He explains that while Southern England has plenty of options for people to enjoy Greek cuisine, there aren’t many choices for those who wish to eat Greek food in the north. His two existing Olive Tree Brasserie locations are already a huge success, and he sees that there is a need for this type of food further north.
However, instead of launching his new venture by finding investors the traditional way, he decided to do something different this time. He is using Kickstarter to fund his new venture, with the goal of earning £100,000. Kickstarter has a global user base that attracts people from all walks of life who are interested in helping to fund projects such as these. People can donate any amount of money that they wish, which is something that makes the platform standout from other, more traditional ways to fund projects. Those asking for the funding can offer rewards if funders pledge a certain amount. Wilson’s awards include a Christmas party package for 20 people for those who have pledged between £800 and £1,750 and other rewards for those who pledge between £35 and £45. However, any pledge amount is greatly appreciated.
Over the course of the past eight years or so, Wilson has turned the Olive Tree Brasserie into a brand whose mission it is to make Greek dining accessible to as many people as possible. His goal is to further expand his brand to Chester. However, the Kickstarter campaign does have a time limit. He needs to achieve his goal by May 28, 2016 in order to make the project possible. He also explains that if the pledged goal isn’t achieved by this time, no money will be taken from those who did pledge. The project will be canceled. Wilson became interested in Greek cuisine when he began to observe the traditional Greek way of life. His restaurants celebrate this sentiment by serving delicious foods inspired by the best Greece has to offer. He also serves traditional Greek wines and spirits with his meals.
