Spending a month in Athens in summer?

Personally, I would not do it in August. It's not just the heat but many of your favourite restaurants and cafes may be closed as many Greeks leave for the islands/villages.

Which Temples Around Athens Are Worth Visiting Beyond the Parthenon?

Delphi. If you want peaceful and electric with power, then go to Delphi. Also you know that near the Acropolis is Pnyx, the birthplace of democracy and you can also find Socrates prison nearby.

    Greek Coffee Cup Readings Question

You need to talk to a Greek grandmother in a village. Plenty of them around if you don't have one of your own. I'm sure they will be happy to share their insights.

    Myth of Pandora's Box?

I can recommend a book which should cover Pandora's box. It is a light-hearted retelling of the pantheon of Greek mythology. Mythos by Stephen Fry

Is the Benaki Museum in Athens Worth Visiting?

The Benaki Museum has more recent Greek history, more from the Byzantium and Ottoman periods. For ancient Greek history, the National Archaeological Museum is unbeatable. Followed very closely of course by the Acropolis Museum. So it all depends on what part of Greece's history you prefer. My...

What I love about visiting Athens

I spend most of my time in Exarcheia. I walk around finding and photographing street art in the different laneways. I enjoy the restaurants there which are much more traditional Greek than most of the ones in Plaka and Monastiraki. I enjoy the cocktail bars on Koletti street at 1am. I love the...

    Visiting Mount Lycabettus Question

Sunset gets very busy at the top of Lycabettus - I avoid it. I go early mornings where you can get a great view of the whole of Athens. The first time I went, I took the funicular but really it is more fun walking up as you have great views along the way and the funicular does not let you see...

    Greek Mythology Sites in Athens?

Apart from the Acropolis, the temple of Poseidon at Sounion is 1hr by car from Athens and 2.5hr drive from Athens is Delphi with the oracle temple. I don't know much about other mythological sites in and around Athens. If you haven't come across it before, a good online resource for Athens and...

    Unique Photo Spots in Athens?

I like photographing street art and graffiti and the best suburbs for that are Psirri and Exarcheia. Exarcheia has some of the most intense street art and graffiti in Greece if not the world.

    Parnassos Ski Resort in Greece

Hey, @kosta_karapinotis , thanks for bringing this up. I have been skiing a couple of times in Australia but have not gone more often because it is horrendously expensive. I have noticed that the Greek ski resorts have amazing beginner slopes and was thinking about going sometime an getting...
