I am very familiar with this topic because my mom has diabetes and we're always making diabetic friendly foods at home or eating them at Greek restaurants. Her doctor recommends a low carb meal with protein and healthy fats! She also recommends that my mom stay away from starchy vegetables. I am by no means a doctor, this is just what has worked for my mom and I thought I'd share.
