I never thought this would happen….but from the prices I’ve been searching for this summer it seems to make more sense to fly to these islands instead of taking the ferry. Nor only that, flying is much faster and they offer free snacks on board. When you book your transit please don’t jump to the ferry booking sites and check google flights or sky scanner first! You never know what you can find. Best of luck fellow travelers. 😊

Good advice!..... this summer is testing times for all operators, with fuel prices going up, there are new ferries operating as well as more Airlines flying interisland destinations too!

I totally agree with this - it's great advice. Sometimes flying is cheaper - depends on what the airlines have going on for sales, and it also depends on the island. Sometimes I take the ferry not to save on costs, but because the process can be more relaxing. But, it all depends on the island I am going to or the time of year.

So true I have always taken Ferries from RAFINA as it is so unwinding after 3 flights, overnight flyings all so stressful and that bus journey from the airport to RAFINA passing through the vineyards and getting on the Ferries, slower the better.... heavenly... Kalley Mera!

Does Greece Have "Autumn"?

I always wondered - is there an autumn season in Greece?

I know that someplace like Crete - maybe not since it stays hot well into October. But Maybe in the mountains?

I might visit Greece next year in early October, and I plan to stay further North in the mainlands. Just trying to figure out what to expect.

Religious Places in Greece

I am interested in doing some pilgrimage types of visits in Greece. What is there to visit? I thought I'd make a list, but I want you to tell me what I have missed:

  • Patmos - Cave of the Apocalypse and stuff
  • Aegina - Saint Nektarios
  • Meteora
  • Mount Athos (no women though right?)
This might be all I have time for, but I am open to other suggestions

Greece at Christmas?

I think I might want to visit Greece for Christmas this year. Do you have any tips? Some things I am thinking:

  • Seems I might want to be there for a month? Maybe from December 6 to January 6? From what I understand that is considered "the season"
  • I of course want to go to church - especially on key feast days
  • I will likely be staying near Athens with some friends
  • Does anywhere in Greece have any great Christmas markets?

Getting Trip Insurance for Greece?

Lately when I've been booking travel, I noticed that I often have the choice to get a travel insurance. For example, when I just went to book my flight.

I said yes to the insurance because the price was low enough.

I know that they actually have trip insurance policies, which I have never used.

Does anyone here actually get trip insurance when going to Greece? If so, what is your motivation?
