Greek Orthodox Easter is on a different day than catholic Easter because they follow different calendar called the Julian calendar. Catholics use the Gregorian calendar. This was the original calendar used by the Greek Orthodox church when it was implemented by Julius Ceasar who was the emperor of the Roman Empire, hence the name, Julian calendar. The Catholic Church switched over to the Gregorian calendar but the Orthodox Church remained with the original one.
