I am thinking of taking a trip to Thessaloniki next year. I am trying to think of what to do. I just want a rough idea so I can figure out how many days to spend.

Here's what I was thinking for some activities, but I want to know your recommendations:
  • Taking a walk along the beautiful waterfront promenade
  • Exploring the historical White Tower
  • Savoring delicious Greek cuisine at the local tavernas
What activities or spots would you recommend? I'm interested in everything from cultural experiences, food destinations, hidden gems, to some relaxation spots. And of course, if there are any events or local gatherings happening, I'd be thrilled to join and immerse myself in the local culture.
I have some recommendations. I was in Thessaloniki this past fall:

- White tower and the promenade area
- Rotunda, Galeria arch
- Walk through Ano poli - the upper town
- Modiano market - I just saw it in passing - I would have spent more time here if I were there longer
- Archeological Museum - I really loved it here - there are some cases with gorgeous jewelry found in archaeological digs - I got a kick out of those!

Thessaloniki Coffee Culture Question

I have heard that there is a unique coffee culture in Thessaloniki. Is this true?

As a coffee enthusiast, I'm really excited to explore this aspect of the city. Could anyone share recommendations for must-visit cafes in Thessaloniki? I'm interested in places that offer a unique ambiance, excellent coffee, and perhaps some local pastries or snacks.

Additionally, I'd love to learn more about traditional Greek coffee and how it's different from what I'm used to. Are there any specific local coffee specialties I should try?

Also, any tips on the best times to visit these cafes or specific neighborhoods known for their coffee spots would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

From my initial research, I understand that Thessaloniki is known for its vibrant markets, exceptional seafood, and sweet treats. However, I'm eager to dig deeper and explore the authentic local specialties that this city has to offer. I believe that the best way to experience a new culture is.

What are some dishes I should look out for? Or maybe some ingredients, too?

Thanks in advance! Grateful for any advice you can give. I will just be there for a few days. I don't know much about Thessaloniki.

Good markets to visit in Thessaloniki?

I'm planning a visit to Thessaloniki soon, and I'm really keen on exploring the local markets there. I've heard that the city is rich in history and culture, and I believe that visiting local markets is one of the best ways to immerse oneself in the local atmosphere and perhaps find some unique items to bring back home.

Does anyone have recommendations for markets in Thessaloniki that are worth visiting?
