I would love to know what everyone thinks of these Greek travel tips, and if they are actually true and helpful. I feel like many people have so many biases about different countries, and they can have a completely different perspective from a local or the actual truth. Please let me know what your opinions are in the comments!

I used to live in Mykonos for many years and work in Tourism.First of all these guys sound genuine and sincere (Believe me!)..... They are factual and correct in their tips.... why on earth did they travel in July/August I will never know?......I received an email from dear friend of mine from the 90s in Mykonos...she says [Amongst other heartbreaking things which I won't post.]
"You may not want to come back. Keep the precious memories of the old Mykonos alive in your mind. Those were the days.
Me, Iโ€™m disgusted and disappointed. I do not know where all this is going, but it isnโ€™t good."
Back to the video and booking accommodation (not from apps or Airbnb).... apart from July and August I would travel and stay in rooms, apartments which are sold by locals waiting at the ports with signs and photographs of their rooms.... Even the local onshore travel office....best way to meet with locals, stay with them, cook, eat and share the culture.. Never book any Excursions on the apps!!!.... Book them there after discussing and being satisfied what one is paying and receiving..... Writes he who knows a few things about excursions!๐Ÿ˜.... Remember that up 40% is added on the price of an excursion and accommodation to keep that OTA in business... The local travel agent is back.... talk to them.... they are really knowledgeable..... they are interconnected with other islands and will make life easier..... about the suncream....a must to buy before hand in large quantities (factors 40+) and travel with including good quality after sun...... As I write the temperatures are soaring towards upper 30ยฐC+... small first aid kit with essentials....beach shoes very important (cheap and cheerful).... learning at least 1or 2 Greek dish from the locals...a lifetime memory!... Never drink Raki like shots!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚...I should know when I stayed in Crete one winter picking olives and grapes....we were pissed as parrots drinking Raki all winter long!!๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.... Kalley Mera.... about the Gyros....eeeegros...In Mykonos they are selling them for โ‚ฌ6.50 ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚...a few years ago before we left we used to pay โ‚ฌ2.50.Geeeeyro apo olla! enjoy your travels.... hope this is useful....ask me questions which I can answer!>>>>a few years ago before we left we used to pay โ‚ฌ2.50 for Gyro....now just for fun there is a place which sells cocktails for โ‚ฌ500........and a large glass of beer for โ‚ฌ55....

I've definitely made the mistake of drinking too much Raki!! I do miss the good old days when I was younger and could drink five shots in a row without feeling a damn thing.

Arriving in style, alive & spinning the bike inside the bigger bars!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚....Were we crazy?๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

You have lived a crazy life my friend! Makes me want to move to Mykonos and work there for good!

This is a great video with some excellent tips. I've made the mistake of drinking Raki like shots! Never again ... LOL

Basically, the advice in video is very good, but I can add a few more from myself, since I have vacationed in Greece not once. As soon as you arrive in Athens, the first thing to do is take a tour of the city. It can be the Acropolis, the Parthenon, universities, temples, etc. You can even spend a few days doing this if possible. And only after that concentrate on rest, walking, shopping, sunbathing on the beach, etc., leave it not for the first day. Also, from the tips on how to travel smart, communication with local people will be important. Although it was said in the video, it is really important, because it is the local people who know the best corners of the city, plus you will find a company with which you can have a great time.

Tips for tourists by tourists always make me laugh, but they provide insight that locals might not notice because they (the locals) are used to certain things. Their tips are fine, and the two neighborhoods they recommended in their description are nice (koukaki and psyrri)... Psyrri used to be a nice place where only locals went, but now it's filled with tourists and I don't know if I'd want to stay there because of how loud it can be. Koukaki is nice and there are some good restaurants there.

I think the best thing you can do when visiting Greece is to make some local friends if youre staying for long enough. They will show you the best of both worlds and recommended authentic spots.

thanks

Beaches on Agistri or Spetses?

I am thinking of visiting some of the islands that are fairly close to Athens/Piraeus.

Two of them that you don't hear much about - like Agistri and Spetses - but I heard that they are worth it to visit, especially for the beaches, especially for Agistri.

Which do you prefer?

I have heard about some beaches on Agistri, but not sure what is available in Spetses.

Here are the beaches I heard about in Agistri:

- Aponissos beach - The beach's calm, crystalline waters and soft golden sands offer a perfect respite for swimmers and sunbathers. Surrounded by greenery and rock formations, the charming cove provides a breathtaking backdrop for a day by the sea.

- Skala Beach - he beach is lined with beach chairs and umbrellas available to rent, as well as a variety of water sports to try. The village behind the beach is packed with tavernas, bars, and shops, offering an array of dining and entertainment options for your holiday.

What do you guys think?

List of Interesting Places to Visit in Greece

I thought I would make a list of some great places in Greece. Some I've visited, some I'd like to visit. Any recommendations on what I should add to the list? Thanks!

1. Athens: Athens provides the perfect contrast to the beautiful island vibe of Greece. Athens is the capital city of Greece and boasts of enthralling ancient history. Athens indeed is a treasure trove of history, and it's a must-visit. You don't want to miss the world-famous Acropolis, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the National Archaeological Museum.

2. Santorini: If you're after stunning views and indulging in luxury, Santorini should be your next destination. Known for the iconic blue domes, Santorini is a volcanic island that provides a picturesque view of the sunset over the sea. It's an ideal destination for lovers and honeymooners to indulge in the island's romantic atmosphere.

3. Crete: Crete is the largest Greek Island full of culture, history, and food. The Island is famous for its beaches, nightlife, and delicious food. You can experience Greek hospitality at its finest, as Cretans are some of the friendliest people you'll meet.

4. Mykonos: Mykonos is a small island, but it's known for its vibrant nightlife, stunning beaches, and white-washed buildings. If you love partying and clubbing, then Mykonos is a place you should definitely tick off your bucket list. Don't miss experiencing the hazy atmosphere into the early hours of the morning.

5. Meteora: Meteora is a UNESCO world heritage site located in the northern region of Greece. It's known for the incredible rock formations and breathtaking monasteries that sit atop the rocks. If you're looking for a spiritual and serene experience, Meteora should be your top priority.

6. Delphi: Delphi is another significant cultural site located in Greece and is often called the center of the earth. It was once known as the navel of the world and holds great importance in Greek culture and history.

7. Rhodes: Rhodes is an exquisite island in Greece that is rich with history and charm. Known for its ancient history, Rhodes offers a picturesque view of rugged terrain that stands tall against the coastline.

8. Naxos: Less crowded than its neighboring islands, Naxos is a beautiful island that offers something for everyone. From crystal clear water to beautiful sandy beaches and a mild climate, it's a perfect location to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the world.

9. Corfu: Located in the Ionian Sea, Corfu is one of the greenest places in all of Greece. Corfu offers a relaxing atmosphere, and it's the perfect location to take a step back from the busy life and just enjoy the stunning view.

10. Hydra: If you're looking for a unique experience, Hydra should be on your list of places to visit in Greece. One of the most peaceful islands in Greece, Hydra is free of cars, and its unique bohemian vibe, stunning architecture, and tranquil surroundings make it a perfect destination.

When does tourist season end in Greece?

I am planning my next Greek trip.

I want to go in October but the people I am traveling with - we won't be able to to go until mid-October.

I have been to Crete that late in the year and to Athens, but not anywhere else. On our schedule is to visit some of the smaller islands, like Hydra.

Do places like that shut down? My main concern is, will the tourist shops be closed? I love to browse through them and it's part of my enjoyment.

Question about scuba diving in Greece

I'm currently planning a trip to Greece, a destination that has long been on my bucket list, not just for its history and cuisine, but especially for the scuba diving experiences it offers. I've heard that Greece boasts some incredible underwater landscapes, from vibrant marine life to fascinating wrecks.

Given the vastness of Greece's coastline, I thought I would try to see the country in a different way.

Let's say I want to go scuba diving in a particular island. How do I go about doing it?

Parnassos Ski Resort in Greece

Believe it or not, I find skiing in Greece to be pleasant. I know Greece isn't thought to have a climate good enough for skiing, but it's good enough. I have to go to Greece soon, and this is one of my favorite places to ski:

The resort offers outstanding skiing opportunities for all skill levels, from beginners to advanced skiers. With over 40 kilometers of marked ski slopes, Parnassos Ski Resort is equipped with the newest and most advanced skiing equipment to ensure that customers enjoy an unforgettable experience.

There is also a place to stay here, which is nice, plus activities other than skiing to please the family.
