Have any of you rescheduled your trip to Greece this year?

Just curious if anyone has postponed their plans for Greece this summer, or even last summer as a result of covid. If so, what is the process and what did you do? How did you end up rescheduling everything?
 
Airlines will usually reschedule you without a fee.
Make sure you are vaccinated prior to going or take a rapid test I think 72 hours prior to departure, you should check with the Greek Embassy or your Airline for what's required.

Yeah airlines are being much more flexible these days

Thanks for the question! For myself and my family we are planning a nice long trip to Greece and islands next Summer (of 2022). Although, I know many Greeks (and non-Greeks) that are planning to travel to Greece for vacation this Summer as well!!

Nope, but I'm about to get some tickets. I went last year during August too.

Three couples cancelled our May 2020 trip and have rescheduled it for September this year. We had a hard time getting money back from Norweigian Airlines. Aegean Airlines would not refund since they were still flying. We had a Villa rental that tried to only offer a six month reschedule but Airb&b got us a full refund. The car rentals gave us a full refund with no problem. The all-inclusive or our second week also gave us a full refund with no problems. We booked this year paying extra for the availability to cancel with no fees.

Yes. If our borders (Australia) were not closed we would have attended Despina and Milton's wedding in Chania Crete. Sydney us in lockdown again. Not sure for how long this time - Delta mutant. Stay safe. Stay connected

That's frustrating!! At least you got a refund from some places

I'm flying from the USA. When I purchased my tickets, I saw tickets from $600 - $1700. I didn't get the $600 because I didn't trust the airline companies who would be flying me at that price... I wish the prices were the same as last year (I got tickets for $350)

Wow $350 one way?? That's some of the best prices i've ever heard of. I didnt realize they got so low because of covid

All my holidays (except this coming September) have been cancelled by the suppliers 😢 My bookings have all fallen either side of times when we could travel. I had my money back quickly with no problem though.
Fully expecting September to be cancelled, just playing the waiting game now.

Several times, no thanks to idiot Boris Johnson. Finally driving down on Tuesday, provided he hasn’t pissed off the EU countries we’re travelling through

My last visit was 2019, before that almost every year, hopefully go again in 2022.

Pack List for Trip to Greece in Spring

I have a trip to Greece planned in the spring. Mainly, I want advice on the weather. In the meantime, I made my best guess and came up with a list. Anything to add or subtract?

Clothing
  • A light rain jacket or windbreaker: For the inevitable April showers
  • A couple of long-sleeve shirts: For those cooler mornings
  • A lightweight sweater: For layering when temperature changes
  • A pair of comfortable pants: Think breathable fabrics like cotton, and a pair of jeans.
  • Shorts and a sundress: For warmer afternoons
  • Comfortable walking shoes: You’ll be exploring villages and ancient ruins, so cushioned soles are a must.
Accessories
  • A versatile scarf: Can double as a shawl on cooler evenings
  • A wide-brimmed hat: For sun protection
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen: Essential for beach days
  • Reusable water bottle: To stay hydrated without contributing more waste

Last-minute travel tips in Greece

I love to travel to Greece and I do so whenever I can. There's an art to it, though, and I am never really going into it "blind". It's a good idea to start by thinking generally about where you might want to go.

Athens is usually the starting point for most travelers, with its iconic Acropolis offering panoramic views and a history lesson all in one spot. If you're a beach lover, head towards the Cyclades for stunning beaches and the classic, postcard-worthy Santorini sunsets. Or, if it's history you're after, the ruins of Delphi or the ancient city of Mycenae will surely captivate you.

Then, we need to figure out how to get where we want to go. For island hopping, the ferries are an experience in themselves – though if you're time-strapped, consider a local flight to get you to the major islands quickly. On the mainland, a mix of car rentals and public transport can be efficient and economical, especially when visiting sites off the tourist map. Keep an eye on the schedules and book in advance if possible to save time.

Sometimes I rent a car, to be honest it's the easiest for me.

The rest of the details tend to sort themselves out. For example, you can book your lodging as you go along, especially off-peak.

Tips for visiting monasteries in Greece

While visiting the monasteries, remember you are in a sacred place. Dress modestly, with legs and shoulders covered, to show respect for the local customs and faith. Keep your voice low to preserve the peaceful ambiance and adhere to any photography restrictions to respect the privacy of the monks.

I've had some people ask me, so I thought I'd start a post about etiquette. If you are out taking tours and you don't dress properly, be sure to look for a scarf or skirt (for the ladies) that they may provide to make you respectable enough to enter the space. It's far better, though, to dress properly in your own wardrobe!

Loud talking is a no-no. It's also a good idea to observe Orthodox customs when entering the sacred space, even if you aren't Orthodox. Non-orthodox may venerate icons, light candles, submit prayer requests, etc.

Canyoning Bled Slovenia

Hi guys!!
I'm planning to take a group canyoning Bled but apparently, it is obligatory to use a local guide. I am a canyon instructor (caf and ffme), is this enough to supervise without anyone else? I have several years of experience (climbing and canyoning) and it is obvious that I will not be able to offer this destination if it is not possible.
