Travel tip: pharmacies in Greece can offer valuable medical attention for minor issues!

If you have some medical issues like bee stings, cuts, headaches etc. you will be able to consult with a pharmacist! This is not the case in Canada and I found it super helpful to go to pharmacists while traveling around Greece
 
This is so true!

I remember back about 10 years ago I needed an inhaler for my asthma while in Greece. We went to the local pharmacy in the middle of the night and it was closed. We rang the bell and the pharmacist woke up (apartment was over the business) and opened up for us and sold me an inhaler no questions asked.

I was floored how great the service was and the pharmacies in Greece can be really great if you have a small thing you need help with. (of course, no substitute for a hospital if you need real medical attention!)

I agree. My dad got bitten be A LOT of kounoupia (??? Not sure what these are in English) and he had bites all over his arms. They gave him a great cream at the pharmacist (Apothiki) that healed the rash in just a few days.

Is Island Hopping Worth the Effort?

I've been thinking about trying an island-hopping trip the next time I visit Greece, but I'm wondering if it's actually worth the extra planning and travel time. In the past I've usually picked one island and stayed there for the duration of my vacation, which has been relaxing and let me really get to know the area.

Part of me loves the idea of experiencing several islands in one trip since they each seem to have their own personality, food, scenery, and traditions. On the other hand, I wonder if constantly packing, catching ferries, and checking into new accommodations takes away from the experience.

Hi everyone, I’m planning a family trip to Boston from Athens and was searching for car service from options airport to my hotel online. While exploring, I came across Blue Nile Livery. I also noticed their service is featured on Google and even highlighted on Forbes, along with positive reviews on several travel sites. I’ve started realizing that some of my favorite memories from Greece are connected to food more than anything else. Little tavernas, bakeries, seafood by the water, village meals that seemed simple but tasted incredible. It’s making me think that next time I go to Greece, I’d love to plan at least part of the trip around food.

I’m not fully sure yet if I’ll be going this summer, but I’ve been daydreaming about possible places to visit. What towns or regions in Greece do you think are especially great for food lovers?

I’d love recommendations for places known for traditional cooking, local specialties, seafood, baked goods, or just amazing tavernas in general. Islands, mainland towns, mountain villages — all recommendations are welcome.

Best Greek Destinations for History Lovers

I’m thinking about planning a Greece trip next year that is focused almost entirely on history, and I’d love some ideas for the best places to include.

Athens would obviously be part of the itinerary for the Acropolis, Ancient Agora, museums, and other archaeological sites. I’m also considering Delphi, Mycenae, Epidaurus, Olympia, and maybe spending more time exploring the Peloponnese. Meteora is on my list too, although that would add a different type of historical experience.

I’m especially interested in places where you can really spend time exploring rather than just stopping briefly to see one major site.

If you were planning a history-focused trip to Greece, which destinations would you consider essential? Are there lesser-known archaeological sites, historic towns, museums, Byzantine sites, or ancient ruins that deserve more attention? I’d also love suggestions for putting together an itinerary without trying to cover too much ground.
