We took a wonderful day trip to Aegina from Athens! The ferry boat was so short and delightful. It took about one hour from Piraeus which is the country’s largest port. We rented an ATV which was about 35€ for the day and took it around the whole island. It’s definitely not touristy and much more quiet than other islands. I definitely recommend it for a quick getaway.

Where to stay before cruise leaving Piraeus?

I have a friend who is staying in Athens just a few nights then going off on a cruise leaving Piraeus. This is in the late summer sometime. I told her I would ask advice - I am at a loss because I usually spend longer in Greece and get an Air BnB - at least that is what I have been doing lately.

Anyway, where should she stay? Any advice on areas of Athens or even names of hotels?

Has anyone here seen a performance n Epidavros?

I am so fascinated by Ancient Greek history and from what I understand, some of the ancient theaters are still intact and performances are being held there. I've been research Epidavros and noticed that they hold performances there in the summer. Has anyone been? What was it like?

I've seen footage online of people marveling at the amazing acoustics, and I want to experience this for myself.

Favorite Sunsets in Athens?

I am looking forward to seeing Athens again soon. Do you have a favorite sunset spot? My two favorites are Filopappou Hill and the area around the Acropolis. I am looking for some more ideas - I have a great camera and when I go to Greece, I love taking photos around sunset - even better if there is a great view of the sunset itself.
