I'm in the process of planning what I hope to be an unforgettable family vacation to the beautiful island of Kefalonia. With its stunning landscapes and inviting sea, I can't think of a better place to spend quality time with the family.

However, as we all know, not all beaches are created equal, especially when it comes to finding spots that are both beautiful and suitable for families. Factors like gentle waves, shallow waters, accessibility, and nearby facilities (such as restrooms and places to eat) can make all the difference in ensuring a stress-free and enjoyable day at the beach for both parents and kids.

I would greatly appreciate any recommendations you might have for beaches that fit this bill. Our family loves a mix of adventures and relaxation, so suggestions for beaches with a bit of both would be fantastic. Are there any particular spots that have captured your heart due to their beauty, safety, and family-friendly amenities?

Some beaches to try:

Paleokastritsa Beach

For those who adore crystalline waters and picturesque scenery, Paleokastritsa is a must. Six stunning bays await, each offering something unique. Don't forget to bring your snorkel gear; the marine life is fascinating.

Sidari - Canal D'Amour

Known for its unique sandstone formations, Sidari's Canal D'Amour is surrounded by legends and beauty. It's perfect for adventurous spirits looking to explore and discover.

Glyfada Beach

If you're seeking a bit more vibrancy, Glyfada Beach is the place to be! With its golden sands and blue waters, it's ideal for families and groups of friends. The beach bars and water sports facilities will ensure you never get bored.

There are lots of beaches in Kefalonia but the 3 above are not . Glyfada is in Attika ( Athenian Riviera) and the other 2 in Corfu.
I would suggest you try Mounda , Kaminia and Katelios. All close to Skala and fine sand. You can drive to all of them, All are calm and shallow water. Katelios has a breakwater so even is it's windy it's fine for little kids and has tavernas right there. If you make it to Katelios go to Captain Jerry's for fresh seafood lunch or dinner. They are right on the beach and have plenty umbrellas that you can use free of charge if you eat there. We should be there in August.

Good Place to Stay in Kefalonia?

I'm hoping to find an interesting place to stay in Kefalonia beyond the usual hotels—perhaps a charming guesthouse, a villa with character, or even a boutique hotel that offers a more authentic experience of the island.

I'd love to hear about any places you've stayed that have a special atmosphere, stunning views, or a great location near beaches or local attractions. If there are any hidden gems or off-the-beaten-path accommodations that you think I should consider, please share!

I'm also open to any advice on which areas of Kefalonia are best to stay in, especially for first-time visitors looking to explore the island's beauty.

Taking the whole family to Kefalonia?

I’m planning a family trip to Kefalonia and would love some advice on how to make the most of our time there. We're traveling with kids, so I’m particularly interested in family-friendly activities, beaches that are safe and fun for children, and any must-see sights that would appeal to both adults and kids.

Are there any specific areas or villages you’d recommend staying in for easy access to these activities? Also, tips on local restaurants that are great for families would be awesome!

We’re excited to explore this beautiful island and want to make sure it’s a memorable experience for everyone. Looking forward to your suggestions!

Summer Festivals in Kefalonia?

Hi everyone! I’m planning a trip to Kefalonia this summer and have some flexibility with my travel dates.

I’d love to experience one of the island’s local festivals—whether it’s a religious celebration, cultural event, or music and food gathering.

Can anyone recommend festivals that are particularly special or unique? I’ve heard about the Agios Gerasimos feast on August 16th and the Robola Wine Festival in late August, but I’m open to any suggestions.

I’m especially interested in events that offer a glimpse into local traditions and community spirit. Thanks in advance for your insights!

When do things shut down in Kefalonia in the fall?

I’m considering a trip to Kefalonia in mid-October and wanted to get some insight from those who have visited around that time. I’ve heard that many Greek islands start winding down their tourist season in the fall, and I’m wondering if that’s the case with Kefalonia too.

Are the main attractions, tavernas, and shops still open, or do things start closing up after the summer rush? I’d love to know if I’ll still be able to enjoy the beaches, boat trips, and some local food spots, or if it’ll be quieter with limited options.

Also, is the weather still pleasant for exploring and swimming in October? I’m hoping to experience a more relaxed vibe but don’t want to miss out on the island’s highlights.

Best Beach in Kefalonia to Visit?

I’m heading to Kefalonia soon, but I might not have a lot of time to spend at the beach. I know the island is famous for its stunning coastline, so I want to make sure I visit at least one amazing beach while I’m there.

From what I’ve seen, Myrtos Beach looks incredible, but I’ve also heard great things about Petani Beach and Antisamos Beach. If you could visit just one beach in Kefalonia, which would you choose and why? I’m looking for a mix of scenery, accessibility, and a great swimming experience. Bonus points if there’s a nice taverna nearby for a quick meal! What do you think?
