Do you have to pay an entrance fee for beaches in Mykonos?

I know many beaches on popular islands require you to pay a fee to sit on the beach chairs. Is Mykonos the same way? I hate paying to use the beach 😠
 
Unfortunately many beaches will require you to pay, it's the sad reality but many businesses are struggling and need to profit from the tourism

Beaches provide excellent facilities for which one has to pay, you can take your towel and sit on the sand on many beaches,no problems...
 
Be aware that while in a 'regular' beach in Greece, the fee for a beach chair is 5-10 Euros; in Mykonos the fee can get up to 80 euros. So ask first so that you don't get cough by surprise.

I am laughing😂😂!..... try €200 for a beach chairs in some places.. There are countless beaches where one can put towel on the sand and chill...I did it all the time even though I knew all the beach renters, something nice about lying on the sand...
 
It's pretty common to pay to use a beach chair and umbrella because it's all about renting the space. Greece isn't the only place where I have encountered this. However, I think that 80 Euros, 200 Euros, etc sounds a bit extreme. That is so unfortunate! For those prices you would think it was a VIP thing, or that you rented a cabana and not just a chair and umbrella. Some of the quieter, tucked away beaches maybe wouldn't charge so much, or anything at all really. However, those beaches probably wouldn't have facilities.

Very true,in Mykonos it is always a hot sizzling topic about rivalry and who has the 'Pull' in the summer,I lived in Kalafatis, where if one eats at local taverna,one can use the beach chairs for free, now move over to Kalo Livadi and we meet the big players with high profile clientele and beach chairs and Cabanas to match,go a bit further down we have Lindsay Lohan beach cabanas,and then over to Psarou and Nammos and the high rollers reside and nothing but fizz flowing all day !,Riva toys moored with ambience to match, the chairs and umbrellas are truly first class, one doesn't ask price for anything,one just pays!😀🤗
 
Sorry for bumping into an old conversation. From my experience, many popular beaches in Greece, including those in Mykonos, have entrance fees and charge for beach chairs and umbrellas. However some beaches are free to access, but they may be less crowded and have limited amenities. It's always a good idea to research the specific beach you plan to visit beforehand to see if there are any fees. Also, use pay stub creator to manage these fees more efficiently. Good luck!

How expensive is Mykonos?

I won't be going this year, but I am starting to plan for next year. I plan to be in a Greece for at least a month and someone I am traveling with is adamant about wanting to experience some clubs in Mykonos.

I think it does look fun, but I am concerned with whether or not it is expensive. I heard it can get bad. We have a limited budget... can we navigate the expense of it, and find less expensive ways to enjoy it. Can we?

Best Mykonos beaches for families?

I'm planning a family vacation to Mykonos and would love some recommendations on the best family-friendly beaches. With a couple of toddlers in tow, I'm looking for beaches that are not only beautiful but also safe for the little ones to play around and paddle in the water.

Additionally, amenities like clean restrooms, nearby places to grab a bite to eat, and shaded areas would be a huge plus. We want to avoid the party scenes and opt for more serene spots where we can build sandcastles and enjoy the waves without too much worry.

If anyone has experiences or suggestions they'd like to share, I'm all ears! What beaches in Mykonos have you found to be particularly good for families? Any tips on the best times to go, or advice on must-bring items?

Favorite Beaches on Mykonos

I know that people have mixed feelings about the beaches of Mykonos, but I plan to go this year. I've been in the past and wanted to share my three favorites:

1. Elia Beach​

  • Elia is the longest sandy beach in Mykonos, offering a less crowded experience. It's ideal for those who want to relax and enjoy crystal-clear waters.
  • Tip: Try the water sports facilities there — I don't enjoy it but my family members report that this is fun. They've rented jet skis.

2. Paradise Beach​

  • As the name suggests, Paradise Beach is lovely. It's known for the party scene, but during the day it isn't bad. They just play DJ music while you're at the beach, and there's a lively bar.
  • Note: Leave before the evening parties start if that's not your scene. I love the energy during the day but I have to be in the mood for the music.

3. Psarou Beach​

  • Psarou might allure you with its upscale vibe and excellent beachside services. It's all about luxury yachts, boutique shops, and high-end dining.
  • Recommendation: Don't miss the opportunity to snorkel in these beautiful waters. It's very serene here in general.

Learning Greek While in Mykonos?

What are your opinions about the party scene in Mykonos?

I am traveling to Greece this July with a large group of friends and family and we all have different interests.

Some of the people have never been to Mykonos and are pushing for a longer stay because they want to party.

I did all that when I was younger, and it wasn't the greatest. I loved nightclubs back then, too.

What have been your experiences? I found it to be too hot to party hard. I love to dance, and I couldn't really dance much. The beaches made me feel claustrophobic because there was nowhere to really walk and get away from the loud music!
