I thought I'd list out some of my favorite Greek summer foods - I am also looking for ideas so I would love it if you chimed in!

- Fasolakia
- Greek-style street corn (making at home)
- Horiatiki (Village salad)
- Greek tomato orzo soup with fresh tomatoes
- Grill stuff - like souvlaki
- Making food on a spit, like whole chickens!

Briam is a wonderful summer dish as well as Gemista (king of summer foods). A nice plate of kagiana (tomatoes with scrambled eggs). Kolikithokeftedes. Oh how could I forget Imam.

I agree about adding Briam, Gemista, and the zucchini keftedes... I would also add Greek fries made in olive oil and fried zucchini chips. I have an electric fryer and do all this outside.

Greek Dishes that Use Hot Pepper?

I love hot pepper. I am having some buddies over to watch football over the weekend and I want to serve some Greek foods that are on the spicier side. What do you suggest?

I know the roasted red pepper and feta dip has hot pepper. I can't think of anything else. Of course I could also grill and add some hot pepper to the Greek marinade I use. It tastes pretty good. Can you think of anything else?

Best Meat for Stifado?

Most of the stifado (Greek meat stew) recipes that I have actually call of rabbit. I live in the United States and it is actually difficult to find rabbit, unless you know someone who hunts. Not only that, but I don't care for rabbit.

I have a friend who uses either beef or lamb for her stifado. I preferred the beef version. I want you guys to weigh in - what do you think is the best meat for stifado? Once I pick a meat to use, can I use the same recipe, and just use whichever meat I pick instead of the rabbit that is in my recipe?

Food Tour of Greece?

I want to take a food tour of Greece, and I only really have time for one destination. Where do you suggest I go? Some possibilities:

- Stay in Athens the whole time
- Crete
- Ikaria
- Thessaloniki

Really, any place in Greece would be good I imagine! Is there a site that has actual guided tours? I know I could just go somewhere and eat and explore on my own, but I want to meet locals, maybe even cook with some people.

Top Greek Phrases to Know for Greece Trip

In an ideal world, I would be proficient in the Greek language ahead of my trip. Sadly, for me that takes a long time. Even though I started studying Greek and have been consistent, I am not where I want to be.

I am trying to decide on twenty of the most important phrases/ words to get comfortable with ahead of my trip, which is coming up.

Ευχαριστώ - Thank you
Παρακαλώ - Please
Ναί - Yes
όχι - No
Συγνώμη - Sorry
Το λογαριασμό παρακαλώ - The bill, please

I know these seem really basic but I am a bit gun shy when speaking other languages, and I really need to practice a lot. What else should I add to the list?

How do you make your cabbage salad?

I love Greek cabbage salad. My family makes it very simply with cabbage and a ladolemono. I add feta cheese because, why not LOL.

I have had other versions with other veggies and a different seasoning - like one version I had blended cabbage with carrot and had an apple cider vinegar dressing.

How do you guys do it?
