I might end up going to Corfu on a future trip to Greece, and Corfu Town looks like the kind of place that would be great to explore on foot.

One of my favorite things to do when visiting somewhere new is simply walk around and see what I come across. I love to explore!

So I’m curious, what are some of your favorite walks around Corfu Town? Are there particular streets, routes, or areas that you especially enjoyed wandering through? I’d love to hear about any spots that make for a really nice walk.

Corfu Town is perfect for wandering, especially if you enjoy discovering places without a strict plan. One of my favorite walks starts near the Old Fortress and follows along the Liston promenade. From there, I like to drift into the narrow streets of the old town, just letting myself get a little lost. The mix of Venetian architecture, small shops, and quiet alleys makes it really enjoyable.

I also loved walking from Spianada Square toward Campiello. That area feels a bit more tucked away and residential, with hidden corners and little stairways that suddenly open up into small squares.

Another great route is along the waterfront near the New Fortress, especially in the early evening. The light over the water is beautiful, and it feels a bit calmer than the center.

Honestly, the best part is not over-planning. Corfu Town rewards curiosity, and some of the nicest moments come from simply turning down a random street.

Hiking trails on Corfu?

I’m starting to look more seriously at Corfu for a future trip, and one thing that really appeals to me is the landscape. The island seems greener than many other parts of Greece, and I’ve heard there are some beautiful hiking opportunities with coastal views, hills, and even mountain scenery.

I’d love to include a few hikes in my itinerary, but I’m not sure where to start. Are there particular trails that stand out for scenery or overall experience? I’ve come across mentions of the Corfu Trail, but I’m also curious about shorter routes that could be done in half a day.

For those who have hiked there, how difficult are the trails generally? Any recommendations for specific areas, viewpoints, or routes that are especially memorable?
Also interested in practical tips, best seasons, footwear, or things to watch out for.

Would love to hear your experiences and suggestions!

First Impression of Corfu?

I was talking with a friend recently who’s been to Corfu many times, and it sparked an interesting question. It’s been over 30 years since his first visit, and he realized he can’t quite remember what his initial impression of the island was anymore. Not what he thinks of Corfu now, but how it landed the very first time.

That made me curious about other people’s experiences. Do you remember how Corfu felt to you on your first visit? Was it the landscape, the Old Town, the food, the pace of life, or something less tangible? Did it meet your expectations, or surprise you in some way?

When a place becomes familiar over time, those first reactions tend to blur or get overwritten by later memories. I’d love to hear from anyone who can still recall that first moment of arrival — what stood out, what confused you, or what made you want to come back.

Religious Orthodox Sites to See in Corfu?

I might be going to Corfu soon and recently heard that there are some really meaningful Greek Orthodox sites on the island—but of course, I didn’t write them down and now I can’t remember what they were.

I’m definitely interested in seeing more than just beaches and would love to experience some of the religious or spiritual side of Corfu while I’m there. I’ve heard there are historic churches, monasteries, and possibly sites connected to important saints or traditions, but I’m not sure where to start.

Are there specific Orthodox churches or monasteries that are considered must-see? I’m especially curious about places with history, beautiful architecture, or a strong local connection. Thank you!

How expensive is Corfu?

I’m starting to look into Corfu for a possible trip and was curious how it compares cost-wise to other Greek islands. I’ve been hearing a lot lately about places like Santorini and Mykonos getting pretty expensive, especially in peak season, so I’m wondering if Corfu falls into that same category or if it’s a bit more reasonable.

From what I can tell so far, it seems like there might be a range depending on where you stay and when you go, but I’d love to hear from people who’ve actually been. Are accommodations and meals fairly affordable, or does it add up quickly?
