Food Specialties of Thessaloniki?

I am looking into regional cuisines in Greece and I am actually going to Thessaloniki at some point this year to visit some people. What are some unique dishes, and maybe concepts, that may the culinary food scene here unique?

From my initial research, I understand that Thessaloniki is known for its vibrant markets, exceptional seafood, and sweet treats. However, I'm eager to dig deeper and explore the authentic local specialties that this city has to offer. I believe that the best way to experience a new culture is.

What are some dishes I should look out for? Or maybe some ingredients, too?
 
I am not sure if these are specialties, but these are certainly things I've enjoyed eating in Thessaloniki.

1. Gyros - some of the best I've had in Greece.
2. Bougatsa - I had the surprise of eating this for breakfast! So good.
3. Souvlaki - found a street food vendor and they were so good!
4. Koulouri - those bread rings with sesame seeds are so good
5. Soutzoukakia - I always forget about these until I eat them in Greece and love them

What to Do at the Thessaloniki Waterfront

I’m planning a trip to Thessaloniki next summer, and I’ve heard that the waterfront is a must-see. I’d love some recommendations on what to do and see while exploring this area! I know the White Tower is a major landmark, but I’d like to make the most of my time there and experience more than just the tourist spots. Are there specific cafes or restaurants with great views where I can relax and enjoy the sea breeze?

I’ve also heard there are some interesting sculptures and public art along the waterfront – any that I shouldn’t miss? I'm planning a trip to Thessaloniki and have heard that the city has a vibrant street art scene. I'm really interested in exploring this aspect of the city and would love some advice on where to find the best street art.

Are there particular neighborhoods or streets in Thessaloniki that are known for their murals and graffiti? I’m especially interested in areas where the art reflects the local culture or tells a story about the city’s history.

I’m planning a trip to Thessaloniki and could use some advice on where to stay. I’m looking for neighborhoods that are central and convenient, but also have a great local vibe. Ideally, I’d love to be near good restaurants, cafes, and maybe some cool historical spots.

I’ve heard a bit about Ladadika and Ano Poli, but I’d love to hear more opinions on those or any other areas. Is there a neighborhood that offers the best of both worlds – easy access to the main attractions, but also a bit quieter for relaxing after a day of exploring?
