Do you have any tips for travelling with kids in Greece? I have three kids and my husband and I are planning on visiting next summer, going to Athens and Crete.

Crete is definitely a great place to go with kids. There’s plenty of nature and smaller villages that are great for exploring. The only issue is that the island isn’t super accessible by walking or transit, so you’ll most likely need to rent a car. My kids really enjoyed going to the beach and playing beach volleyball or playing in the sand. It tired them out and they were ready for a nap in the afternoon.

It depends on the ages of the kids! For the flight I make sure I always pack tons of their favorite snacks, activities and download their favorite movies on an ipad! Once in Greece it's pretty easy if you rent a car and use gps. There are so many beaches, parks, shops, and sites to see. I also can't recommend airbnb or other home rental sites enough! Having your own apartment with a kitchen is very convenient and offers a great space for the kids to relax after a day at the beach. An apartment also saves money on food as you can prepare some meals and snacks at home.

The great thing about the city is that there are many kids play places in the area. They usually offer a cafe where the adults can drink coffee and relax while they watch the kids play.

Unique Photo Spots in Athens?

I will be traveling to Athens this year in the spring. What are some great photo spots throughout the city? Aside from what inspires me?

I have a bad habit of forgetting to take pics while away and I come back from the vacation with a random collection. This time, I want to do some advanced planning. Some of my ideas:

- Parthenon/ Acropolis - A shot with people and the Parthenon in the background
- Food photos - plenty of shots with people - and table shots - and of myself - eating the delicious food
- Monastiraki - This place is full of life - there could be some great candid shots

Do you guys have any ideas?

Should you come to Athens in the winter?

I have never been to Greece in winter and I was considering it. I found this video - it was very informative! Thought I'd share:

Given the vast array of options, I'm reaching out to this community for personal recommendations and insights. What are your favorite nightlife spots in Athens? I'm interested in hearing about places that offer unique experiences, whether it's a bar, club, etc.

If you've had an unforgettable night out in Athens, please share:

  • Any tips for newcomers (like dress code)
Also, if there are any must-know cultural etiquettes or tips for enjoying Athens' nightlife responsibly, I'd appreciate learning about those as well.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!

Greek Mythology Sites in Athens?

I am visiting Athens and want a feel for where to go that pertains to Greek mythology.Of course, the Acropolis is on my list, but I wish to explore other places related to gods, goddesses, heroes, and their legendary tales as well.

For those of you who have ventured on similar quests or possess knowledge about Greek mythology's physical footprints in Athens, could you recommend:
  1. Must-visit sites that are deeply connected to Greek mythology.
  2. Any lesser-known locations that offer a unique insight into the myths.
  3. Tips for making the most out of these visits (best time to go, how to avoid crowds, etc.).
  4. Any resources (books, guides, websites) that could help deepen my understanding of the myths associated with these sites.
I’m extremely excited about this trip and looking forward to your recommendations and insights! Thanks!
