I don't remember from my limited Greek mythology knowledge, can someone help me out?

I found this online:

Deianira (Hercules' wife) eventually became jealous of his young maiden whom she thought had captured Hercules interest. She decided that this was the perfect time to use the centaur’s blood to woo Hercules back into her arms. What she didn’t realize is that the centaur’s blood was actually poisonous to Hercules. They both realized far too late what had actually happened. Hercules was in so much agony after he took the potion that he wished he were dead.

Hercules eventually died and after he did, his mortal portion perished. Zeus took his “god” half back to Olympus where he made amends with Hera. Hercules stayed in Mount Olympus from then on and then married Hebe, Hera’s daughter.

Here is a bit more information about how Hercules died:

Hercules/Herakles was killed by Poeas as was Talos/Talaus/Talon of Crete.Tylon was the name for Hercules in Lydia and is derived from the name of the Hittite god Telipinu, as is Typhon. The peace treaty between the Hittites and Egypt agreed by Ramesses II mentions Set/Sutekh in the Egyptian version and Telipinu in the Hittite version as a god ensuring the treaty was kept.Chief Hittite god Tarhun [Thor] paired with Amun [Zeus Ammon] in the same treaty, carrying out the same function of oath witness.
Deianira [Jocasta/Io/Creusa/Autonoe] is Eurydice [Isis/Eos/Nightingale/Aedon/Hemera/
Emer/Hathor/Chloris/emerald/siren], who married Dryas [Heracles/Acrisius/Zethus], and then murdered him.Deianira was Heracles' second wife.Heracles' first wife was Megara [Nephthys/Selene/Nyx/Hera/
Thebe/Evarete/Arete/Virtue/Aoife/
Amphitrite].
Eurydice is the mother and wife of Laomedon or Lamedon and Neleus [both Horus/Aristaeus/Oedipus/Opheltes].
Eurydice is the wife of Orpheus [Dionysus/Shiva] and Aeneas [both Amphion/Osiris,brother of Zethus/Seth].Megara is Lavinia [Luna].
Iole [Violet/blue/sapphire/Sapas/Sappho] is a name for Aphrodite [Praxidice] to whom the flower was sacred and Eurytus [Eurytion] is a name for Sagittarius [ Mercury/ opposite Gemini constellation/Castor ]. Castor [beaver] is a name of Heracles [dammed 2 rivers to clean Augean Stables and defeated Achelous river-god]. The Nemeian lion/Leo/Ladon/Draco/Busiris are all forms of Osiris [Amphion/Fafnir/Apophis/Apep/
Draco/Misharu/Law/Mithras].
Nemeia [Nammu/Tamtu/Nemesis/Niamh] was the mother of the Nemeian lion.
Eurytus is Mercury [Budha/Brahma/Bran/Nycteus/Coronus].
Sarasvati [Savitri] is Chinese Chih Nu [Vega],Greek
Chione and English [Germanic] Snow White.
Sarasvati's Zodiac sign is Pisces [Neith of Latopolis/Nile perch/Latona/Leto].
Hercules [Yam/Yama]was called Set in
Egypt and Set was linked to the hyena and Fennec Fox.
Set's son Anubis/Anpu [Cerberus/Connla/Lugaid/Lleuad] was linked to the dog/hound. Anubis' son Wepwawet was linked to the wolf. Set required 50 allies [ pack of hyenas ] to slay Osiris [Mavet/Mot/Leo]. Hyenas get leftovers from lionesses' efforts/lion food.
Set was the younger brother of Osiris.
Megara [Hippolyte/Scylla] was Aglaea.
Nireus [Nereus/Triton] was the son of Megara.
Min is Cain/Smith ['father' of Kenites].
Centaurus [Kentauros] is Minotaur.
Poeas is Po-Ea [Po-Enki/Phoenix/Fenku/
Odysseus].Patroclus is Hyacinthus [Mercury].
Menoetius is Helios [Horus].
Helios was the father of Clymenus [Periclymenus/Aquilo/Boreas/Aeetes/
Eetion]. Clymenus was the father of Phaethon. Phaethon was the father of Sandocus [Hittite and Luwian god Santa].
Santa [Sandakos] was also called Sandas [Ionic Santes] or Sandon. Sandon was linked to Amar.Utu [Marduk] and Greek Heracles. Sandon was the god of Tarsus [Tarsa/Tarzi]. Santas was linked to Sdq [Sydyk/Zadok/Sutekh]. Sandocus was the father of Cinyras [Kinnaru, inventor of the lyre/Hermes/Amathous]. Cinyras was the father of Adonis [Tammuz/Kothar-wa-Khasis/Philo of Byblos' Khousor/Ptah].
Kothar-wa-Khasis' name is linked to the West Semitic and Akkadian word ksr meaning skilled or Skillful [Daksha/Medraut].
Phaethon [Apollo] was also the father of Clymenus [Hades] and Chthonia [Persephone] who established a shrine to Demeter.
Hephaestus [Kothar-wa-Khasis of Kaptara/Caphtor/Crete and Hikuptah/Memphis] was the husband of Kythereia [Aphrodite].
The name of the Arabian god Azizos/Aziz [Lucifer/Morning Star] is derived from Ea's epithet hasis, meaning wise.
Only one Clymenus in Greek mythology is definitely Hades Clymenus [Hesperus]. All the others are probably Periclymenus [Mercury]. Perieres [Auriga] is the son of Periclymenus [Aeolus] and a name for Lugh in Irish myth, under the name Laeg.
Erginus/Arrhon [Regin/Regulus/Arawn/Orion] was the son of Perieres [Apollo/Ares]. Menoeceus is Heracles Monoecus of Monaco and Cuchulainn [Talos/Setanta] in Irish myth.
Cuchulainn's wife Emer [Hemera/Eos] is Deianira.
Perieres [Apollo/Creon] slew Periclymenus. Erginus/Arrhon [Icarius] slew Perieres.
Heracles [Set/Daire] slew Erginus [Osiris].
Whichever idiot made Menoeceus the father of Creon made a simple myth very difficult to understand. Irish Cu Roi may refer to Creon, as their myths borrow from the Greek myths.
Ixion [Heracles/Set/Meleager] was the son of Ares and the grandson of Periphas [Periclymenus/Agelaus/Aquila/Cyanippus].
Cyane ['Dark Blue'] is Iole [Violet/Demeter].
Poseidon is Norse Gymir [Ymir/Set-Typhon/Aegir/Hler/Irish Ler].
Bias is Mercury [Periclymenus]. Bias marries Pero [Athena],
the daughter of Neleus [Helios]. Bias' son is Areius [Ares].Bias' grandsons are Talaus [Set] and Leodocus [Osiris/Polyphemus/
Leo].
Deianeira is Isis.Heracles is Set.Nessus ['duck'/Chiron/Centaurus/Charon/Charun] the Centaur is Nemty [Greek Antaeus/Antion,son of Gaia/Phene/Samal and Periphas].It is likely that Nemty is the constellation Cygnus [Cycnus/Ares/Nisus].
The Cygnus constellation is in the plane of the Milky Way [celestial river/here Evenus River].
Actor [Actaeon/Mercury/Eurytion] was the son of Acastus [Agastya/Canopus/Argus/Aristaeus/Helios] and was killed by Peleus [Pelias/Ares/Cycnus/Apollo/Varuna].
The Pierides are the Sirens [Dawn chorus of birds/Eos].
Conchobhar Mac NESSA [Nisha] is Odysseus [Nishatha]. Naoise is Nisus/Nessus [Lugh]. Deirdre/Derdriu is Circe/Aphrodite.
Ionian Athens [Athena] and Dorian Megara [Medusa] were bitter rivals.
Pegasus,son of Poseidon and Medusa,
was Pegae/Pagae,the western port of Megara, on the Corinthian Gulf.
Chrysaor appears to be Aegialeus [meaning beach/sea-shore] whose tomb was at Pegae/Pagae. Cyanippus [Cian] is Actaeon/Actaeus [Akte/coast].
Argus is linked to Hierax [falcon or hawk],
and Hierax to Eryx [Eunomus/Good Shepherd].

Which Greek myth feels most relevant to modern life?

I am curious, which Greek myths feel the most relevant to you in modern life? I’ve been thinking about this lately and I’m curious how others see it.

For me, the myth that feels most relevant right now is Narcissus. The focus on reflection, self-image, and the need for validation feels very familiar in a world shaped by social media. So much of modern life revolves around how we look, how we’re perceived, and how much attention or approval we receive.

The story feels less about vanity and more about becoming absorbed in an image and losing real connection in the process. That idea seems especially timely.

What about you? Which Greek myth feels most relevant to modern life, and what makes it stand out to you today?

Apollo and Artemis Personality Contrasts

I’ve always been fascinated by Apollo and Artemis, especially the contrast between them as twins. On the surface they share so much, archery, associations with youth, strong connections to nature, but symbolically they seem almost like opposites in some ways. Apollo often represents order, reason, light, music, and prophecy, while Artemis feels more wild, instinctive, independent, and tied to the untamed natural world.

I’m curious how others interpret their relationship and balance. Do you see them as complementary forces, like civilization and wilderness, or more as two expressions of similar divine energy? And are there specific myths that you think best highlight their differences or similarities?

I’d love to hear perspectives, especially from people who study mythology more deeply or look at the symbolic meanings behind the gods.

Exploring the Story of Persephone and Spring

I’ve recently started learning more about Greek mythology, and I keep coming across the story of Persephone and how it’s connected to the arrival of spring. The idea that her return from the underworld brings life back to the earth is really fascinating to me, especially how it ties into the seasons in such a symbolic way.

I’m curious how others interpret this myth beyond the basic explanation. Do you see it more as a story about nature and seasonal change, or is there a deeper emotional or psychological meaning behind it? I’ve also read a bit about Demeter’s role and how her grief affects the earth, which adds another layer to it.

Would love to hear how others understand or connect with this story!

Was Corfu Really Homer's Scheria?

I'm hoping to visit Corfu in late summer or early fall, so I've been reading more about the island's mythology before I go. One thing that keeps coming up is the idea that Corfu was Homer's Scheria, home of the Phaeacians in the Odyssey. The more I read, the more fascinated I become.

I know there are different theories, and not everyone agrees that Scheria was actually Corfu. Still, it's fun to imagine Odysseus washing ashore there and meeting Nausicaa before finally returning to Ithaca. It certainly adds another layer to visiting the island.

What do you all think? Do you believe Corfu really inspired Homer's Scheria, or do you think Scheria was meant to be an entirely mythical place? I'd also love recommendations for any sites on Corfu with strong connections to these myths that are worth visiting.

Favorite Greek hero and why?

I’ve been spending more time lately reading Greek mythology, and I keep coming back to how different the heroes are from one another. Some rely on strength, others on intelligence, and some seem almost defined by their flaws as much as their accomplishments. It makes the stories feel more human than I expected.

Personally, I find characters like Odysseus interesting because of the strategy and endurance involved, but I can also see the appeal of someone like Heracles with the raw physical trials. Achilles is another one who’s hard to ignore because of the intensity and tragedy built into his story.

I’m curious which Greek hero stands out most to others and what draws you to them. Is it their personality, their achievements, or the story itself?
