In researching Greek Christmas traditions, I learned that there's a special Christmas bread called Christopsomo. From what I understand it's like a sweet bread, maybe a little similar to the Tsoureki bread at Easter? Is this true? I haven't seen a recipe I liked yet but the proportions in this recipe comes close. Does anyone have a recipe they'd like to share?
2 envelopes active dry yeast
8 cups all-purpose flour (more or less depending on how it goes with the dough)
2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups warm milk
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon grated orange peel
1 stick butter, melted
5 eggs, beaten
This is for the dough. I get the general idea of how to put together the ingredients so I didn't write out the instructions.
