The sacred Road from Athens to Eleusis is in disrepair and, anyway, I am too old and weak to take it, So, it would be nice for some of you to show it and the ruins of that sacred town, I will attach a study I made some years ago of some related paintings ,[My only correction: Toward the end of the essay: Replace "toilet" by "toilette" or Kore's preparation to meet her spouse.) This is super interesting thank you for sharing

Here is a bit more info that I found online for anyone who doesn't know about this. "The “Sacred Way” was the road from Athens to Eleusis (Elefsina in modern Greek). It was the route taken by a procession celebrating the Eleusinian Mysteries that began at the Sacred Gate in Kerameikos (the Athenian cemetery) and ended at the Sanctuary of Demeter at Eleusis following the same course of today’s “Iera Odos”."

My attachment (a page from a defunct webside) is absent: Did it fail to be attached, or was it officially deleted? Unfortunately I was unable to cut out the heading, which may be inappropriate for "Worldwide Greeks".

I copy pasted the link into my browser and it works just fine but I'm not able to click it directly on WWG

Which Greek myth feels most relevant to modern life?

I am curious, which Greek myths feel the most relevant to you in modern life? I’ve been thinking about this lately and I’m curious how others see it.

For me, the myth that feels most relevant right now is Narcissus. The focus on reflection, self-image, and the need for validation feels very familiar in a world shaped by social media. So much of modern life revolves around how we look, how we’re perceived, and how much attention or approval we receive.

The story feels less about vanity and more about becoming absorbed in an image and losing real connection in the process. That idea seems especially timely.

What about you? Which Greek myth feels most relevant to modern life, and what makes it stand out to you today?

Creation Stories of Greek Mythology

I’ve been spending a lot of time researching the creation stories of Greek mythology, and I find them endlessly fascinating. What draws me in is how there isn’t a single, fixed origin story—everything shifts depending on the source. Between Hesiod’s Theogony, the Orphic traditions, and later philosophical interpretations, the beginning of the cosmos feels fluid rather than settled.

I’d love to hear how others approach these myths. Which version of creation resonates most with you, the emergence from Chaos, the role of Gaia and Uranus, or the more mystical Orphic egg? Are there lesser-known fragments, regional traditions, or scholarly sources you’ve found especially compelling?

I’m always excited to discover new angles, translations, or interpretations, especially ones that explore why the Greeks may have been comfortable holding multiple origin stories at once. Any recommendations, insights, or favorite passages would be greatly appreciated.

Which Olympian god would you most want to meet?

If you could meet one of the Olympian gods from Greek mythology, which one would you choose? I think this is a difficult question because so many of them would be fascinating to talk to, although some would definitely be safer choices than others!

Athena would probably be near the top of my list. I’d love to hear her thoughts on wisdom, strategy, warfare, and the way humans make decisions. Hermes would also be interesting because of his connection with travel, communication, cleverness, and his role as a messenger between different worlds.

Apollo might be another good choice because of his associations with music, prophecy, healing, and the arts. On the other hand, meeting Zeus or Poseidon could be a little intimidating.

Which Olympian god or goddess would you most want to meet, and why? What would you want to ask them if you had the chance?

Learning About Cronus of Greek Mythology

I’ve been learning more about Cronus lately and realized that I only knew the most basic parts of his story. I knew he was one of the Titans and the father of Zeus, but there is much more to his role in Greek mythology.

Cronus overthrew his own father, Uranus, and later became ruler during what was sometimes described as a Golden Age. He was also warned that one of his children would eventually overthrow him, which led to the famous story of him swallowing each of them after they were born. Zeus, of course, escaped that fate and eventually defeated him.

I’m curious how others view Cronus. Do you think of him mainly as a villain, or as a more complicated figure shaped by fear and prophecy? Are there any lesser-known stories about Cronus that you think are especially interesting or important to understanding him?

How do I fix an automated workout plan that keeps misaligning progress?

Been trying to stick to this automated workout plan, but the thing keeps throwing my progress all outta whack. One week it thinks I’m superhuman, the next it treats me like I’ve never touched a dumbbell. I’m trying to stay consistent, but the constant misalignment’s messing with my motivation big time. I don’t wanna ditch the whole setup, ’cause when it works, it actually helps me stay on track. Anyone been through this or know how to get these apps to stop freaking out and actually track progress like a normal person? I just want the thing to make sense again.
