I realized I have never seen this site and I am traveling with history buffs. I thought I'd ask you all for some advice:

  1. Best Time to Visit: What’s the best time of year to explore Ancient Kamiros to avoid the crowds but still enjoy good weather?
  2. Getting There: Are there public transportation options available, or would renting a vehicle be advisable? Any tips on parking or the best times to arrive?
  3. Must-Sees: Within the site, are there any particular spots or artifacts that are a must-see? I'm interested in capturing some great photos and soaking in the history.
  4. Tour. Should I take a tour? Anything to recommend?

I would avoid the hottest months - usually July and August but some of June and September can be pretty hot. Peak season, though, is July and August.

I would hire a guide to take you around the Knights of Saint John buildings - I get so much more out of it personally when someone is there to explain it all to me.

Traditional Dishes to Try While on Rhodes?

I’ll be visiting Rhodes this summer, and I can’t wait to explore the island’s food scene! I know Greek cuisine is amazing, but I’d love to try local dishes that are unique to Rhodes.

Are there any must-try specialties that I shouldn’t miss? I’ve heard about pitaroudia (chickpea fritters) and lakani (a slow-cooked meat dish), but I’d love more recommendations—whether it’s seafood, traditional meze, or local desserts.

Also, if you have any restaurant or taverna recommendations, I’d really appreciate it! I want to experience authentic, home-style cooking rather than just touristy spots. Bonus points if it’s by the sea with a great view!

Looking forward to your tips and suggestions—thanks in advance!

Tips for Visiting the Rhodes Jewish Quarter

Hi everyone, I’m planning a trip to Rhodes and really want to explore the Jewish Quarter in the Old Town. I’ve heard it’s small but full of history, and I’d love to make the most of the visit.

If you’ve been, do you have any tips? Are there guided tours available, or is it better to explore on your own? I’m particularly interested in visiting the Kahal Shalom Synagogue and the Jewish Museum — how much time should I set aside for those?

Also, any interesting stories or historical context that really added depth to your visit? I’m trying to balance learning about the history with just soaking in the atmosphere.

Bonus points if you have any nearby spots for a coffee or bite to eat afterward!

Would appreciate any insights or suggestions — especially from anyone who’s visited recently. Thanks so much!

Best beaches on Rhodes for snorkeling?

I'm considering a family trip to Rhodes and am curious about the best beaches for snorkeling. I've heard that Anthony Quinn Bay is a top spot, known for its clear waters and marine life. Kallithea Springs also comes up frequently, praised for its underwater scenery. For families, Tsambika Beach is mentioned as having gentle slopes into the sea, making it suitable for children. Agathi Beach is noted for its calm, shallow waters and sandy bottom, ideal for kids and beginners. Glystra Beach is another family-friendly option, with clear waters and a small rock island that's great for snorkeling.

Has anyone snorkeled at these beaches or have other recommendations? I'm looking for spots that are both exciting for snorkeling and safe for children. Any tips on equipment rental or guided tours would also be appreciated!

4-Day Itinerary for Rhodes?

I’m in the research phase for my next trip to Greece, and Rhodes is one of the top contenders on my list. I’d love to explore a mix of history, nature, and good food—plus a little beach time, of course!

If you’ve been to Rhodes, what would you recommend for a well-rounded 4-day stay? I’m wondering if it’s best to base myself in one place like Rhodes Town or Lindos, or if it’s worth moving around. Are there certain sites or villages that are absolute musts? And how easy is it to get around. Should I rent a car or rely on public transport?

I’d really appreciate any sample itineraries, favorite spots, or tips you’ve picked up from past visits. Thank you so much!
