Was the sneaker company Nike named after the Greek goddess?

I know that Nike was the Greek godess of victory in ancient Greece, was the shoe company named after her?

In Greek mythology Nike was the greek goddess of victory, so I would say a possible maybe! LOL

I just had this conversation with my son the other day so we did some research! Apparently the original name was going to be Dimension 6 until one of the founders suggested naming it after the Goddess Nike, specifically because her presence symbolized victory!

That's a way better name than Dimension 6 LOL! It's cool that Greeks are a part of Nike, I love their shoes!

Nike was 100% inspired by the Greek Goddess of Victory. There are other companies, as well, that were inspired by Greek Mythology like Pandora (the jewelry company) and Hermes (luxury goods).
