Keeping track of our family recipes is something that me and my siblings can never seem to get on track. Some of us have them on our phones, some of us have it written down, and we always seem to be confused about what the correct family recipe is. Let's not get me started on the ones that just have the recipes in their heads. What do you and your families do to preserve your family recipes? My mom has a messy recipe file box, and the rest are in my head. This isn't good - I feel like I need to write a cookbook, if for nothing else but to give to my family members, so that the traditions can be preserved.

I have learned so much about Greek cuisine by being on this forum! I know that there are standard recipes that everyone seems to cook.
For example, you can get souvlaki all over. Everyone seems to serve a village salad with slight variations. Most regions seem to make moussaka. There are tons of others.
I have also noticed that each region has their own specialties. How do you go about learning about them?
